Conan O'Brien heads to TBS
No late-night FOX deal for Conan O'Brien after all. The talk show host will instead be heading to TBS.TBS has announced that the comedian will join the basic cable network to host a late-night show expected to debut in November.
"In three months I've gone from network television to Twitter to performing live in theater, and now I'm headed to basic cable," O'Brien says in the statement. "My plan is working perfectly."
Maybe O'Brien had a plan (although the sarcasm is duly noted), but the network that ended up picking him up apparently didn't -- at least not as a month ago when the Hollywood power players joined together to talk TV at the The Hollywood Radio and Television Society (HRTS).
Zap2it's Dish Rag reported that when asked about any plans to bring O'Brien onboard at the HRTS, Michael Wright, Executive Vice President, Turner Entertainment
Networks said, "I love Conan. To be honest, we haven't discussed it, it's not on our radar
right now. But who doesn't love Conan? He's fantastic. George Lopez is a huge
hit and a success story for us."

Its sad how, COCO did to Lopez what Jay did to him... Poor thing while Jay is sucessful and number one, he is on a cable network... Sad... Sucks being him, fug and on cable.

For once MEOW is half right, COCO just did to Lopez what NBC ( not Jay ) wanted to do to him. No doubt COCO will flop big time, becuase bottom line, he is just not funny... and thats THE TRUTH...

George Lopez has come out and said he's totally for it and even asked Conan to come to TBS. Like him or not, he's a class act and this is absolutely nothing like the mess that happened at NBC.
Everyone's gonna point out that it's cable...why take a step down, etc. Look at the bigger picture...he won't be there for too long. This deal is a stop gap for something much much bigger. Either it gives FOX enough time to work out deals with their affiliates or in a few years Letterman retires and we finally have a true successor for him.
If you read the press release on TBS' website, this was George's idea, who personally called up Conan and asked him to consider joining TBS.
During the whole "I'm with Coco" campaign, I was semi neutral though I always leaned towards Leno. (I generally liked both for their different styles).
However, during the campaign on Facebook, I found ALL the Coco supporters were an identical match to the far left wing of my FB friends that also thinks this horrible, Anti American, wolf in sheeps clothing President, Obama, is great.
When I saw all the same people who had been shoveling Obama down our throats were also in lockstep "with Coco", I completely rooted for Coco to go away. I am counting down to 2012 when we can get this evil sob out of office. At least Conan has been relegated to cable.
