'Brothers & Sisters': Gilles Marini officially a regular, but someone else has to go

Brothers-Sisters-Luc-is-a-regular.jpgIt's official Luc-lovers! Gilles Marini is officially a regular on "Brothers & Sisters."

Zap2it reported it first back in February when Marini told us and ABC confirmed that he was in negotiations to become a series regular.

Back then, the deal hinged on whether the series would be renewed (but, duh, we knew it would be).

"This is really cool," Marini told Zap2it in an exclusive interview. "Doing something on TV with a massively amazing cast like that, I appreciate it. And being asked back, it's to die for."

Marini's promotion does come with some bad news. The TV gods giveth and they taketh away. We already knew Rob Lowe was abandoning ship, but we'll be losing another half-Walker. An ABC spokesperson confirms to Zap2it that Luke Grimes who plays Ryan, the mischievous half-brother, won't be returning to the show.

But, let's focus on the good news. When Gilles was still in negotiations to become a regular, he told us, "That would be my first regular TV part I've ever had, so it's very exciting. It's a huge accomplishment for me."

Congrats, Gilles! We're excited to see more of you! (wink, wink)

Are you excited Luc will be back next season? Will you miss Ryan?

When was Ryan a regular? He was only used to cause trouble. It looks like they let him help Kitty just to redeem the character. I don't even know why they did that. It's not like he has been back since the hospital. He has not even been mentioned again.

Ryan (Luke Grimes) was billed as a regular all season long this year, and has only appeared in like 5 episodes...a stupid casting move in my opinion, but glad the producers realized that and just dropped him.

good trade, dont think anyone will miss ryan

I think that Luke Grimes/Ryan won't be returning is the good news! What a bad story line and what poor casting!

I cant get enough of Gilles Marini. I would take Marini over Grimes any other day. That story line just annoyed me. Good move ABC.

We love Luc! Free Luc! Free Luc!

I don't think that the casting was bad. The storyline was just awful and they failed to make the character likeable in any way. I don't think that it was Luke's fault as he was given nothing with which to work.

I am so happy Gilles will be returning. I cant get enough of him after seeing him in the coffee table book About Face which was published by Pixie Press Worldwide. The book helped out the charity Smile Train.. So Gillies.. You are awesome!!

Who cares about Luke Grimes, his character was so boring, I love me some Marini, he can just stand there and do nothing and he stills heats up the screen.

Glad Ryan won't be back. He always creeped me out.
