Box Office: 'Kick-Ass' gets beat by 'Dragon'
Despite an impressive marketing campaign and practically inescapable media coverage, "Kick-Ass" underperformed at the box office this weekend while "How to Train Your Dragon" made a comeback to claim the number one spot. Paramount estimates "Dragon's" weekend numbers at $20 million, just ahead of the $19 million that "Kick-Ass" earned for Lionsgate. Higher ticket prices for 3-D IMAX showings have given "Dragon" a boost.
Many believe that the "Kick-Ass" marketing campaign may have been misleading, as the R-rated movie's promotional spots made it seem family-friendly. Though reviews were largely positive, some very high-profile reviewers found the film's violent fare to be in poor taste.
Final figures will be released Monday, April 19, but here are the estimated weekend numbers:
1. "How to Train Your Dragon," $20 million.
2. "Kick-Ass," $19.7 million.
3. "Date Night," $17.3 million.
4. "Death at a Funeral," $17 million.
5. "Clash of the Titans," $15.8 million.
6. "The Last Song," $5.8 million.
7. "Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married Too?" $4.2 million.
8. "Hot Tub Time Machine," $3.5 million.
9. "Alice in Wonderland," $3.5 million.
10. "The Bounty Hunter," $3.2 million.

The theatre I work at has both, and a family with two young girls was there to see Dragon. As they passed one of the cinemas that was showing Kick-*** (which is a very good movie, this is just a fun anecdote...) one of the girls asked me what movie was playing in there. So I said "That's not a movie for kids... I can't even say the title or your Mom will ground me."
My point being who in their right mind thought that Kick-***! was a family friendly movie?
Kick-*** was awesome - enough said!!!
Last weekend showed why these Sunday estimates are bullsh*t and should be ignored, last week the estimates (which are based on Friday/Saturday earnings only) said that "Date Night" would be #1. What happened? "How to Train Tour Dragon" beat Date Night by over $1 million. I would also like to add that "Kick-***" got the top spot on Friday.

I really liked Kick-***

Regardless of Monday's outcome, How To Train Your Dragon kicked azzz this weekend. When you've been in theaters for a month now and you're still making 20million or more every weekend, that is phenomenal.
TJ we got the point lol.... but yeah kick *** was awesome and probably gonna see it again
Funny that the headline can say the title of the movie (accepted by the FCC just last year), but the censoring software still cuts it from the comments...
Those numbers are NOT IMPRESSIVE for either movie, so BOTH were actually rejected by the moviegoers, not counting reviewers...
Waiting for the next big numbers: IRON MAN II and SHREK FOREVER AFTER...
With those numbers, Kick *** is clearly reprehensible in more ways than one.
