Betty White on 'Saturday Night Live': What you won't see

Betty White hosts NBC's "Saturday Night Live" on May 8, and even she's not sure what to expect although she tells Zap2it that she's been given "veto power" over any material she might feel uncomfortable doing.

"I turned down a spoof of 'The Golden Girls' that they wanted to do several years ago, with the girls smoking pot and all that. I said, 'I don't think so, thank you very much. We don't go that way with those girls.'"

White admits she's "nervous" about her upcoming "SNL" gig, but she adds she's glad such returnees as Tina Fey, Amy Poehler and Molly Shannon will be by her side on stage that night. A Facebook campaign led White to the hosting spot, but she has no desire for similar movements to land her on any other shows.

"I think maybe I'll take pity on the public," she says, "and give them a break."

She claims she wouldn't even be enticed by a "Dancing With the Stars" offer from ABC: "I think Cloris Leachman took care of our age bracket!"

A recent recipient of lifetime achievement awards from the Screen Actors Guild and the Television Critics Association, White also is filming the TV Land sitcom "Hot in Cleveland," set to premiere Wednesday, June 16.

"The chemistry between those three girls (fellow series stars Valerie Bertinelli, Jane Leeves and Wendie Malick ) is just wonderful," White notes. "Not only are they all so nice, they spark one another, and it's just lovely to see."
