Annie Lennox wears HIV Positive t-shirt on 'American Idol'
Annie Lennox made a fashion and humanitarian statement on "Idol Gives Back."The Brit pop star wore a black t-shirt emblazoned with the words "HIV Positive" as she performed remotely. She had planned on appearing live on the show, but the Icelandic volcano ash had interfered with her travel plans.
The "HIV Positive" shirt isn't a message that she's HIV positive herself, rather a supporter of HIV awareness, treatment and prevention. It's part of an ongoing campaign to remove the stigma from HIV positive people so they can get the treatment they need.
Lennox has worn the shirt before for numerous public appearances including "Idol Gives Back" in 2008 and when she performed "Chain of Fools" with Aretha Franklin at the 25th Anniversary Rock & Roll Hall of Fame concert.
She sells a version of the "HIV Positive" shirt on her official website.

Here's a real real dose of truth for you my friend. If they had the resources to change they could/will IMHO. Maybe if someone were to help them to learn what we already know. They'd figure it out in the end, just like we think we have. :)

Anyway, good on Lennox for raising awareness. Only problem is it might backfire with rumors that she's HIV+ too. But I applaud her efforts.
Stricken poverty alone is a major cause for the spike of HIV cases in parts of Africa. In addition many societies there that are heavily catholic, are not allowed to use birth-control; which is known to decrease the spread of the virus.
Annie Lennox... You are a wonderful person for showing tolerance, compassion, and hope.

Unfortunately the "racist" comment is partially true. In non-muslim nations it is shamefully true that African married males have many "mistresses" and they spread HIV to all these females. Since Islam is so harshly strict, it has helped lower the spread in those nations. Christianity isn't nearly as harsh and relies on self control (free will), so will probably have to rely on Women's rights so the society knows women can say no. Goodluck changing that.

Pray we arent delt the same hand as those who are less fortunate..since US "Americans" have it all...give to those who arent as fortunate... I WOULD BUY A SHIRT..A HOODIE and a JACKET.. i would support all year round....Along with any other cause that is enabling someones life... you never know when you may want someone to support you or your children god forbid you become like the people you think so little of...Just because there in Africa means nothing...wow some of you actually blame religion.... and education... get a clue..
