'American Idol' welcomes Lady Antebellum
"American Idol" is welcoming one of the hottest groups in country music to its stage -- Lady Antebellum, comprised of Dave Haywood, Charles Kelley and Hillary Scott. Wednesday, April 14 following the live results show, the trio of country artists pre-recorded a live performance of their smash hit "Need You Now" for the lucky audience.
We were in attendance and about lost our minds when we heard who was performing. "Need You Now" is a heart-breakingly good song and we included video below in case you are unfamiliar with it. The group currently leads all nominees for the Academy of Country Music awards, which air live from Las Vegas on CBS at 8 p.m. ET on Sunday, April 18. Lady Antebellum is nominated for Top Vocal Group and Album of the Year for the trio and Single Record of the Year as artist and producer, Song of the Year as artist and composer and Video of the Year for "Need You Now."
There have been rumors of Shania Twain returning to "Idol" for country week and while FOX cannot confirm those rumors, Lady Antebellum's performance will surely air during Country Week on "Idol." Interestingly, lead singer Hillary Scott said during a Sirius interview that she auditioned for "Idol" twice and never even got in front of the judges -- but the trio had nothing but praise for the show because "talent's talent ... it's so hard to get a break."

Great song!
I could tell you were a pretty "smart" lady. But multiple minds - WOW!!
I've got two, Farmer. I don't like to talk about it. : )
Country "music" sucks. I won't be watching this performance.
We want to see Kellie Pickler perform on Idol every year! When is Idol and 19 going to start supporting their own alumni and artists on the 19 label more? Every Idol signed with 19 should be guaranteed at least 1 annual performance. At the beginning of the season, Idol said in the press that this year would be different and there would be more focus on past season Idols. Well I don't see it. They still have many non-Idol pop stars performing and many Idol viewers complaning about it on message boards. I believe this is a reason why Idol ratings have declined in the past few years since they have been doing this. Don't they get that Idol viewers/fans want to see Idols perform as much as possible and none of the non-Idol pop stars we can see on many other shows?
List of non-Idol performers on season 9 results shows so far
Orianthi
Kesha feat. 3OH!3
Miley Cyrus
Joe Jonas and Demi Lovato
Usher and will.i.am
Diddy-Dirty Money
Jason Derülo
Rihanna
Justin Gaston
Lady Antebellum
I'd rather see Kellie Pickler and a few others on the 19 label perform 2 or 3 times than any of these.
I echo that sentiment: No more non-Idol performers on Idol. Mentors, fine. Performers, no.
I even like Lady Antebellum -- but American Idol has eight seasons of former Idol contestants, including several country acts, still trying to make a living and there are millions of fans who care deeply about them.
And even the ones we didn't care about, we're curious about.
I did not vote for Adam (or anyone else) last year. But I recognize and respect his passion and talent.
Adam was the main reason I watched the show this week. If they had had a non-Idol mentor this week, I don't know if I would have watched.
So, yes, I would much rather see and hear Kellie Pickler than Lady Antebellum.
(And I would have accepted ANY former Idol finalist over train wreck Justin Gaston.)
Lady Antebellum, believe us!
We always like you,
Whether watch your concerts,
Or only a video.
Your music is so intense!
Wish to see you,
In any concert that take place,
Our love is that of Romeo.
However how pricy are tickets!
We got’ em in Ticketpolice.com
