'American Idol' elimination: Andrew Garcia and Katie Stevens say bye-bye
It was all smiles and cheers when the judges chose to save Michael Lynche in last week's "American Idol" elimination show.But of course that meant a dreaded double elimination show was necessary for Wednesday (April 14) night.
Ryan Seacrest moved the show along at lightning speed to ensure ample time for two "Idol" boots and Adam Lambert's tricked-out light show performance. The host brought out Andrew Garcia, Casey James and Aaron Kelly, then promptly declared Garcia -- an early season favorite -- the one who would say his last goodbyes tonight.
Crystal Bowersox and Siobhan Magnus were the first two declared safe. Then Seacrest briefly taunted the always-nervous Lee DeWyze by making him walk with him -- over to the safety zone.
So the last three standing included "zero-to-hero" Tim Urban (of course he's safe), Katie Stevens, and the just-saved Michael Lynche.
We got to enjoy Lambert's wild green laser light show before learning that Katie Stevens would be joining Garcia on their way out the door.
Both contestants had consistently received poor critiques from the judges, so their exit was no big surprise from that standpoint.

I am glad that Ryan Seacreat sent Andrew Garcia and Katie Stevens home. This mirrors the elimination of Jasmine Murray and Jorge Núñez last season, except that I was shocked about Jasmine and Jorge being voted off and not getting to go on the summer tour. Katie Stevens reminds me of Jasmine Murray anyway, and they both teared up when eliminated, and they are similar artists.
show just started on west coast and you already told who left ??? shame on you..... couldn't wait till it finished airing ?

Anonymous: This is an entertainment NEWS site. It's their job to post the NEWS as quickly as possible.
If anything, they didn't get it up quickly enough. Idol is still big enough that they should have results as soon as they are announced.
Well, aging... I half agree with Anonymous. I don't think they should have the names in the headlines, because people see the headlines by accident when they don't want to know. For instance, the Zap2it headlines are on my homepage. When the first eliminations were announced for DWTS, I hadn't finished seeing the dancing episode, let alone the results show, both of which I had PVR'ed.
Don't read it then, until after you watch! Derrr!
Katie's breasts were just starting to get perkier and her look was getting sexier. She could have lasted another week or so, even if her singing was all over the place.
Andrew has been terrible ever since his "straight up" rendition and never attempted to improve himself. Good riddance, I was getting tired of his whole "I'm poor, I want to win for my ugly girlfriend and my illegitimate son" routine.
I'm glad Andrew's gone, but I really liked Katie, and I thought her performance this weeks was outstanding. I was nervous about the double elimination and so was voting for five candidates instead of my usual two. Obviously I should have just focused on Katie. (Not that another ten votes would have saved her.)
yeah - glad to see katie gone, especially after that whole pimping herself out as a prom date for votes, that was sad. she was getting more and more smug each week and that was also getting annoying - i like the fact that crystal, siobhan, lee and tim all take their critique into consideration but still keep who they are on stage & are always grateful for another week - katie always seemed to assume she would stay.
personally, i think they should have taken lilly & kaitlin instead of katie & paige. then there would likely be more girls in the top rather than be voted off this early.
as for andrew - he peaked with 'straight up' and never really got his groove back. he's good, but he has too much of a vegas lounge singer too him to be really popular.
it'll be either arron kelly or poor saved big mike going home next week, though casey's vibrato is starting to really annoy me.

was voted off n that stupid smiling pretty boy tim is still in the competition hes the worst singer ever!!!!!! U american sqealing teen girls get it rite get a brain send tim home cuz he sux n u need to really clean out ur ears!!!!!! I hate american idol,there better not be a repeat of last year!!!!!!!
