'American Idol': Carrie Underwood, Alicia Keys, Black Eyed Peas doing 'Idol Gives Back'

american-idol-gives-back-320.jpg"American Idol" is starting to cement its "Idol Gives Back" lineup.

Carrie Underwood, the Season 4 winner of "Idol," is returning to perform, along with R&B songstress Alicia Keys, the Black Eyed Peas, Annie Lennox and Jeff Beck.

Since its inception in 2007 during Season 6, "Idol Gives Back" has raised over $140 million for charity. This year's special will aise funds Children's Health Fund, Feeding America, Malaria No More, Save the Children's U.S. Programs and the United Nations Foundation. News Corporation, Ford Motor Company, Coca-Cola, AT&T and ExxonMobil will return as corporate sponsors.

"Idol Gives Back" already kicked off with Kris Allen back on Feb. 25. He visited Haiti and performed on the "Idol" results show, asking for people to donate whatever they can.

The big "Idol Gives Back" extravaganza will air Wednesday, April 21 2010. There is no word yet if a contestant will be booted that day or not -- in the past, all contestants were safe on one "Idol Gives Back" night (2007) and on the other Michael Johns went home (2008). "in the past, all contestants have been safe on "Idol Gives Back" night." I think Michael Johns would disagree! C'mon check your facts, there only have been two "Idol Gives Back"!!

It's great to see that Carrie never forgets where she got her start! She always makes room in her schedule to appear whenever she gets the chance. Way to go Carrie!

Yes carrie is great. Show your love by voting for her at this year's ACM, Entertainer Of The Year.

what time is it

Thrilled Carrie will be back. She does more charity work than I had realized and this is a true Idol understanding where she got her start and she seems appreciative. That's an Idol. I'll tune in just to see Carrie!!!

HI Yall, I wonder if Elliott & Kara will be singing there new song live on "Idol Gives Back" April 21st? I remember Elliott saying him & Kara were talkin about recording a song for Afica & performing it on the show.

The Idol Gives Back Show should feature only former Idol contestants, preferably finalists like David Archuleta. In fact, I believe that all the guest performers on Idol should be former contestants giving them the opportunity to remain in the public eye. Its okay to have others as mentors but the performers should be Idols. It seems that when the new Idols have made the rounds of a few talk show appearances, many of them tend to be forgotten. (Just my opinion)

Rosie- I agree with you. Have the former contestants be mentors...a great idea!
