'American Idol': Brooke White and Justin Gaston 'Dream' on
While Adam Lambert was definitely the hyped-up performance on Wednesday's "American Idol" elimination show, we also got treated to a song from Season 7's Brooke White and "If I Can Dream's" Justin Gaston (more widely known as Miley Cyrus' ex-boyfriend).White and Gaston sang a duet to Elvis Presley's "If I Can Dream" (clever, "Idol"). Gaston is one of the featured aspiring talents on the web show "If I Can Dream" -- so getting a spot on "American Idol" must have been quite a dream come true for the 21-year-old model.
As for the song they sang, "If I Can Dream" was a highlight from Presley's 1968 Christmas special for NBC -- often referred to as his "Comeback Special."
White started at the piano and then moved over to sing side-by-side with Gaston on his guitar. Overall it was a pretty solid performance, with White getting slightly higher marks over Gaston for vocals and performance.

Poor guy doesn't have much strength in his voice, especially in the low notes.
But Brooke is wonderful!
Only "slightly higher" marks for Brooke on vocals and performance? No.
Brooke was solid as always. Justin was horrible; he was mumbling half the time.
Justin hasn't improved since his "Nashville Star" days.

I'm going to borrow from Simon Cowell's playbook. That performance was something you'd hear at a karaoke night or a theme park or on one of those dancing shows where a singer always murders a song. It was terrible, especially the guy. He was bloody awful. Talent doesn't seem to be required in todays's music industry. Just look at Ke$ha, Cassie, Sean Kingston, Justin Bieber, The Jonas Brothers and all their Disney playmates, save for Aly and AJ who write all their own songs and have wonderful singing voices.
Everyone seems pretty much in agreement. Brook sang well and was pretty charming overall. Justin ... just another pretty boy who really can't sing.

Justin was horrible. If he tried out for american idol he wouldnt even make it on to tv. He sucked. GET ANOTHER JOB JUSTIN.
I thought it was great... loved both of them.... and I would BUY the song!
