'American Idol': Adam Lambert performing at GLAAD awards
"American Idol" runner-up Adam Lambert has added another engagement to his agenda for his brief stop in the U.S. during his international tour -- performing at the GLAAD awards. Adam says of the event, "GLAAD has advocated for out music artists, including myself, and I am proud to be part of the 21st Annual GLAAD Media Awards this year. GLAAD's work to share stories that grow acceptance and understanding about the gay and transgender community is so important in our culture today."
The 21st Annual GLAAD Media Awards will be held April 17 in Los Angeles and also in attendance will be Constance McMillen, the Mississippi teenager whose high school canceled the prom because she wanted to attend with her girlfriend. Constance will present the Stephen F. Kolzak Award to Wanda Sykes.
The event is being hosted by Candis Cayne ("Dirty Sexy Money") and Wilson Cruz ("My So-Called Life"), Drew Barrymore is being honored with the Vanguard award and the list of special guests include the cast of "Glee," Olympic figure skater Johnny Weir, Eric Dane ("Grey's Anatomy"), Jason Lewis ("Sex and the City," "Brothers & Sisters") and Sofia Vergara ("Modern Family").
Check out the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation website for full details. And don't forget Adam Lambert will be back on "American Idol" April 13 and 14 to mentor the Idols for Elvis week and perform his hit single "Whataya Want From Me."

No better choice than Adam Lambert. Adam chose to be out and vocal from the beginning of his career (one of the few). Adam is making a difference in the conversations America is having about it's bias against gay people and the double standard about male sexuality. Adam is a trail blazer. Not the first but a very important role he is playing because he is open and willing to talk about who he is. Adam is also far from the stereo typical gay male which brings a broader scope to peoples view.
Enough with the Lambert ****! Stop! We don't care!
Adam is the embodiment of the gay stereotype. He didn't even come out while he was on American Idol. I can't think of a worse pick.
But we do care!!!
Only his old ladies care.
Charles,why so bitter?
Hey Charles, money is money! I'm sure Adam doesn't care who's spending money on him!! He's raking it in by now, an international star and all! You must be seething with anger and jealousy. Oh well! Go Adam!
I'm very proud of Adam for all of his accomplishments. He's a great choice to perform and I wish it would be televised.
@Nothing New: You're part of our society's problem. Open your mind and drop the ****-poor attitude.
@Charles: I'm a young lady at 25 and have been following Adam's career since AI. You too are a part of our society's problem. Jealousy over the attention Adam receives from people of all ages and genders. Grow up and act like a big boy !!
Now that's a bit ironic, Debbie, don't you think? If Lambert was capable of acting like a big boy, lot's of people wouldn't have so many problems with him.
But his AMA performance cast a lot of doubt on his ability to do so. Perhaps he might reprise that performance at GLAAD; it would seem to fit better there.
Free speech allows for free hate but why can't the uniquely American "pursuit of happiness" be individual. Why can't I like what I like and you like what you like? I give you yours (and believe me I don't like it) and I'm liking mine. I love Adam. I love his sound. I love his looks. I love his personality. I enjoy watching a positive person work hard and achieve his dreams. And so does my 21 year old daughter.
