'American Idol': Adam Lambert mentoring for Elvis theme in Las Vegas
"American Idol" Season 8 runner-up Adam Lambert has signed on to mentor the Top 8 (now 9 with Michael's save). Turns out the theme is Elvis! Viva Las Vegas!According to MJ's Big Blog, "This week's theme is definitely Elvis songs and Adam Lambert himself has been busy tweeting about it, saying, "Just landed in Vegas!!! Seeing Muse tonight! Fiiiinally!"
Norm Clarke, a gossip columnist for the Las Vegas Review, has been busy tweeting as well, "Idol" finalists are now meeting with their mentor Adam Lambert in "viva elvis" theater #aria #adamlambert" and "#Adamlambert has not embraced his elvisness. Regular clothes; no white sequined jumpsuit or blue suede shoes." Clark also teases, "I've been tipped about an "American Idol" finalist's odd behavior while in Vegas. Saving it for Sunday's column at www.normclarke.com #AI."
Finally, Idols Now has tweeted, "Which former Idol finalist is returning to the show Wed night to sing an Elvis song? Someone from seasons 1-7. We'll reveal on Monday."
We wonder which Season 9 finalist is being odd in Las Vegas. What are the odds it's Siobhan? And which former "Idol" is coming back to Elvis week? And isn't it disappointing to find out Adam Lambert isn't wearing blue suede shoes.
Come back to Zap2it Monday morning for our song picks for the Season 9 finalists on Elvis week!

Our Baby Adam can wear anything he wants and he's still TOP NOTCH!!!! Bring it on Adam!!!!!! OMG We Love YOU!!!!!!!!
This is going to be a disaster
Adam Lambert can't do anything but improve the show.
My 1st thought is that you have to be behaving VERY odd to be flagged for odd behavior in Vegas. Also that Siobhans daffy side is well-known enough that it really wouldn't be news.
My prediction it is Big Mike losin it and acting strange.
My side predictions are:
(1)Two of the men will come across as "Bad amateur Elvis imitators" and be justly tossed the next night. Lee, Aaron, Big MIke, and Andrew could be walking through that minefield.
(2)Tim and Casey will exceed expectations. (God help us, Tim can do this stuff and do later Elvis -less vocally pushing, well!!)
They should have had the season 9 AI contestants go to Adam's concert in Vancouver to learn a lesson or two on how to perform in front of an audience!! WOW!!!
Going to a Sci-Fi movie or doing lip trills is hardly going to attract a lot of notice in Sin City. I doubt that Siobhan is the culprit unless she is staging some sort of demonstration in front of a strip club.
In the past AI mentors are those who have spent some time in the music industry and paid their dues and have some experienced advice to offer. Adam was just a contestant in last season's AI and he didn't even win. He has no qualifications to mentor. And, given his recent "performance" of vulgarity, I am very disappointed in AI for bringing him back for anything.
I am not disappointed that Adam is not wearing blue suede shoes. He is the one and only Adam Lambert. He always looks gorgeous no matter what he wears.
The gals are in less danger because they can't be like the men audience will be seeing as "measuring up". And eeach actually has advantages.
1. Katie has years of dancing lessons, moves well, strong voice. And can - like Tim - save herself again from Bottom 3.
2. Crystal has 200 good bluesy songs to choose from. She'll be fine. And outside any expectation the men have to bring movement, energy, and sexy body language to their performance.
3. Siobhan with Adam consulting may NOT bring the Vegas Glam Review Extravaganza predicted. She might come up a new Siobhan risk/high reward decision. A discretely sexy moving, sexily dressed Siobhan Magnus with a non-overloaded orchestra backing doing a classic flirty charm "Win Back the Love! number from Early Elvis.
Soaring vocals stuff from the soul, pushing her good looks and sexy body language, all with a big smile because "Don't Be Cruel" and a few other great ones he had - is about relishing that struggle and opportunity to reach out and get that person's heart back.
It would be an artistic risk for Magnus, she has underplayed her natural beauty so far, and is perhaps not in a place personally she is ready to "bring on" her sexy attributes on stage. But audience reaction to Siobhan killing a song with a big smile on her face and looking good all the while?
Yeah, it could be marvelous. While risky. I hope Adam - the good guy he is - would also suggest something along those lines and dissuade Siobhan from a Lady Glambert effort.
I think maybe the person coming back will be Clay Aiken. Ruben was on last week and they are both going on tour soon so that makes sense. Or possibly Jason Castro, he has a new album coming out on April 13. Adam is the perfect choice to mentor, he has great communication skills and was amazing at picking songs and working the stage! Looking forward to 2 nights of Adam on Idol this week!! :)
