Zach Galifianakis shaved beard off during 'Saturday Night Live'
We love Zach Galifianakis and his rather wacky humor. And that beard? It's a thing of beauty.Too bad he shaved it off sometime during the March 6th episode of "Saturday Night Live," as his rep confirmed to Zap2it.
In the opening monologue, Galifianakis delivered his signature one-liners while playing the piano. It's difficult to really describe his humor. Some of it's observational, some of it's non-sequitur.
You can also see that he has his full beard here.
The beard continued to make an appearance in the kiss-happy family skit and the one in which a couple was obsessed with bidets. Also, the "Zach Galifianakis: On TV for Over 30 Years" piece totally spoofed his bearded image.
Beard here, beard there, beard everywhere until ...
Sometime during the second performance by musical guest Vampire Weekend, however, is when the razor was wielded backstage.
It's apparent in the "Pageant Talk" skit that he's freshly shorn. Doesn't that skin look rather pale, as if it hasn't seen the light of day from underneath a thicket of hair? To further confuse matters, Galifianakis reappeared fully bearded at the end of the show to say make his goodbyes. His rep confirmed that was indeed a stunt beard making an appearance.
UPDATE: On Sunday morning, a rep for "SNL" also confirmed to Zap2it, stating, "He shaved during the second Vampire Weekend song and then put on a beard for goodnights."
So what's the big whoop about Galifianakis and his beard or no beard? Well, nothing really, but we think it was a great way to distract us from the show, which only had a few hightlights.
Frankly, we liked Galifianakis' promos for "SNL" better than most of his stuff on the show. Except for the beard of course.
Did you watch? What skits worked for you?

He didn't shave it off. I'm watching that sketch right now — it's a pretty convincing makeup job, but you can see his beard underneath the um...chin cap.
Did you honestly think his face is that fat? hahaha.
Nah, he didn't shave it off, it's make up.
He shaves his beard off for shows all the time. He has a character called Seth Galafianakis which is Zach's twin brother with a moustache. He totally did shave it off.
And yes his face is that fat.
Then that dude can grow a beard super fast since in the closing of the show he once again has a full beard! It was some sort of skin cover over the beard that looked real but wasn't.
Malkovich Malkovich. Malkovich Malkovich Malkovich Malkovich. Malkovich, Malkovich? Malkovich! Malkovich Malkovich Malkovich Malkovich...
BOYCOTT SNL!!!! http://www.build-a-beard.com/bab/2010/3/7/boycott-snl-until-zach-galifinakis-grows-his-beard-back.html
Say what you will.. But, SNL was great last night!
What kind of idiots run this blog? Last nights SNL was the first episode I laughed at this entire season. Oh let me guess, they would rather have another Twilight hosting the show?
Also, its clearly obvious that the beard he has is fake. It was fake for the whole show. You can just tell by looking at it, it looks glued on and nothing like the rest of his hair. Im sure he just wears it for schtick that he does as a homeless guy lookalike. Heres another fun fact, Larry the Cable Guy isnt really a redneck. He just pretends.
That was one of the worst SNL episodes ever. Equally as bad as January Jones. Painfully unfunny.
