Sunday night lineup is a bore...television is fast going the way of VHS, and with entertainment CEO'S all saying that its going to end in the next 3-5 years, the networks are gearing up for the internet...

Well Cold case is making its case for renewal. They have been building their Sunday numbers every week since Undercover Boss has given them a legitimate lead in.

where's the article that has television execs saying network television will end in 3 to 5 years? I find that impossible to believe. The government wouldn't allow it.

I've never watched Undercover Boss before and I thought it was fascinating.

Did anybody notice that on SATURDAY night there was nothing on the "Big Three" networks except reruns of what had been on during the week?

ABC might have done better if they hadn't put on a Castle rerun instead of Brothers and Sisters.

I'm surprised by the jump in ratings for Cold Case. I thought it's future was in doubt earlier this season when it's ratings were much lower.

Regarding tonight's TV I hope Law & Order's 450th episode (episode number 451) does well in the ratings.

@John Mck, Undercover Boss spilled over into 10:00 from the basketball overrun. The final numbers will change significantly, so don't get your hopes up about Cold Case. It's still a goner.

And @Jan, that Castle rerun was put on because tonight is the conclusion of a two part episode. That rerun was to catch people up who missed it last Monday.

The problem with the ratings list is that everything on CBS was 30 minutes late last night because basketball ran long. You need to wait until tomorrow to get final program ratings, or if you have raw data, re-figure it with start times that are 30 minutes later.

And I think UNDERCOVER BOSS strikes a nerve because every worker needs to be acknowledged as valuable and most of the folks on this show get that recognition. It's a real feel-good show.

@Ed: The failing executives are the ones saying that. That PR angle absolves them for the many, many mistakes they keep making.

CBS isn't saying the network business is dying. CBS isn't even saying it's bad.

CBS says the network business is good. They're right. For any network with the slightest clue how to run a network (the list includes CBS and... well nobody else :( ) the business is really not all that difficult.

Jeff Zucker on the other hand keeps telling anyone who'd listen the network business is dead just because he couldn't pick a ratings gatherer to save his life.

@WaveCrest: It's funny to remember that Law and Order was a show nobody wanted as it took years for **** Wolf to get it picked up after the pilot was shot.

Then NBC wanted to cancel it after year five and **** Wolf saved it by slashing the budget. The rest is history. :)

@zap2it admins: You've created a system where one cannot post **** Wolf's name, even though it's his name, while talking of Law and Order, but random posters can post as many insults as they want...

Please copy Topix' moderating system. :)

I have a thought for why NBC tanks in the ratings. It's promos for the shows are way too long...they practically tell the whole story. 30 seconds is way too long for a promo. Give me a 10 second teaser, and maybe I'll watch. Also, NBC needs to rerun the shows that are getting beat by CBS in the summer to allow people who watched CBS to give the NBC show a shot...may even get a couple of converts.
