Ryan Seacrest, Jamie Oliver on 'Larry King': We want to create 'movement' to fight fat!

ryan-seacrest-jamie-oliver.jpg"American Idol's host with the most Ryan Seacrest and Jaime Oliver are hungry to spread the word on obesity in America.

Both the star (Oliver) and executive producer (Seacrest) of "Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution" appeared on CNN's "Larry King Live" Thursday (March 25) to talk about their goal to "create a national movement." On the new show, the British celebrity chef aims to improve school food, and he starts in what's been labeled the unhealthiest city in the U.S. (based on obesity statistics from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention): Huntington, West Virginia

It's evident from listening to Seacrest and Oliver talk to King that they're both extremely passionate about this project. Jamie believes that "America can influence the world by cleaning up its eating habits," and he spent several months away from his wife and children in Huntington to start the clean up process.

For Seacrest, it's personal. He admits that he was "fat as a kid" (CNN repeatedly flashed that quote at the bottom of the screen during his interview), and he wants to be the driving force behind getting kids on the track to better eating habits at a young and still impressionable age.

Seacrest also nabbed King's signature on-air for Oliver's petition, which states "I believe that every child in America has the right to fresh, nutritious school meals, and that every family deserves real, honest, wholesome food. Too many people are being affected by what they eat. It's time for a national revolution. America needs to stand up for better food!" Oliver plans to take one million signatures to Washington, D.C. as a part of his effort to improve school food.

You can watch Jamie Oliver start his food revolution on Friday, March 26 on ABC.

I truly understand what you are trying to do here it is its long time coming.
But if you want to compare the money you were able to get for your great idea with the amount spent on Our Iraq war may be you should go back to the Uk and ask them for money you need.
Im sorry I wont me helping or watching you any more.
Good luck on your cause.
JP

Dear Jamie Oliver, I admire you not only for your coocking, but for your bravery and determination in fighting blunt ignorance. How has it been possible that generations have been robbed of their culinary culture? As a frenchmen living in Japan, I am lucky, but when I look around, I must admit, it's starting to happen in France and in Japan too, and it makes me sad.
Hang on!

This is a long time coming!! I am a chef and have been cooking for years and it wasn't until I moved to an area, I'm originally from the desert, where there is a bounty of fresh produce and local meat products, that I truly began to realize what it means to eat local and fresh. More people need to get on board and read, learn, watch all the different literature that supports the reasons why we need to move forward on this. Please America, reeducate ourselves as to what is really good for us and not what we think is, no more GMO's etc.

I have been "preaching" this to my family for a long time. The food industries are killing us and the government is allowing it to happen. It's time for people to face the truth and quit spending their hard earned money on junk for their families. Keep it up.

I would love to start a movement going in Minnesota. What advice do you have to get started.
Thank you

My daughters and I taped Jamie on Oprah as well as the friday night premiere, and loved it. We have talked about it all day, ate a healthful supper, and walked for 30 minutes afterwards. now we see you on Larry King - -LOVE you, Jamie, and love you, Ryan, for bringing this to us! I hope other moms, dads and kids get on board -- We are a FAT country and need to stop the excuses.

I have been watching you since you started on tv a week and a half ago. I didn't know Ryan was involved. I have much respect for Ryan, and you, Jamie, because of your strong convictions. Please show us (America who cares) how and what to make for a "nutritious meal". To me bacon, eggs and potatoes is a nutritious breakfast; fried pork chops and mac and cheese is dinner. What really is a "nutrious meal". I'm only as good as I've been taught!!!! Please help me to learn a new way to live....

I have not missed an episode of your Food Revolution! I am addicted and thrilled to see this. We Need a CHANGE! I am a mother of 2, 10 and 4 yrs. and I see what is served in the school my daughter attends. Mozzarella sticks for lunch, help Jamie! I was shocked on last nights episode when they said that French Fries are considered a vegetable? I would have lost it. My family does not deal with weight issues and I cook healthy at home. We need our schools to change what they feed our children. I strongly support this movement and I am touched that you care too!

The message and production of this show is off the charts. Keep up the great work. Behavioral change is a constant in western cultures where traditions are always challenged. Nothing is more natural than eating well and moving about under your own power to. Eat less and move more. The choice is always yours.
