Rob Lowe joins 'Parks and Recreation'
Early this year, news broke that Rob Lowe will be wrapping his series regular run on "Brothers & Sisters" at the end of the current season, but the ABC brass said they were hoping to develop a new series that Lowe could headline.Seems those plans have been put on hold.
An NBC source confirms that Lowe has signed on for a multi-episode arc on Amy Poehler's "Parks and Recreation." His character -- who is rumored to be some sort of bigwig, perhaps involved in politics -- will debut in this season's penultimate ep and return in the fall.
Question is, who benefits more from this casting? Lowe or the people of "Parks and Rec"?
While "Parks and Rec" hasn't exactly been discovered by the masses, it is beloved by its young -- dare I say, hip -- fan base. So maybe Lowe can bring more viewers to the show and "Parks and Rec" can introduce Lowe to an audience that perhaps isn't familiar with "The Outsiders" and "St. Elmo's Fire." Hey, who knows, the kids today might not even be down with "Wayne's World" and "Austin Powers," so Pawnee really is a good place for Rob to be.
Look forward to seeing him there.

Not happy about this. I hope he keeps his big ego as far away as possible from P&R.
NO!!!!!!! This guy is a joke. This sucks for P&R
I think it's great! I love Parks & Rec, and Lowe has good, quirky comedic timing so he'll fit right in! I look forward to seeing him.
Lowe is not a joke, Dude. i agree with the above comment.
I love P&R and am optimistic about his casting; he was always one of the funnier dudes on "The West Wing" - he's got some good timing.
Too big of an ego for an ensemble. He won't last long. Obviously.
Michael Ausselio seemed to think this was a great career move for Lowe. I don't see that, myself, because I've never seen an episode of P&R and have no intention to.
Brothers and sisters? Dumb! Parks and recreation? Gag me! Rob Lowe? What a loser!
rob lowe was great in wayne's world and he will be awesome in Pawnee. that is all.
