'Lost': 'Orientation: Ryan Station' talks 'Recon' with special guest Noel Murray
Sad news, podcast fans: The Chicago Tribune's Maureen "Mo" Ryan didn't manage to mangle the English language in way that sent fits of giggles down our collective, immature spines this week. But she did deliver the "Lost" goods, alongside our guest Noel Murray. Noel writes about "Lost" over at The A.V. Club, and much like Ron Burgundy, he's kind of a big deal. People know him. Don't believe me? Read his take on "Recon." It smells of rich mahogany.
The three of us chatted for nearly an hour, spanning the course of "Recon" and beyond. Even if you're not a usual listener of the podcast, I implore you to check out the last ten minutes, in which Noel breaks down the sideways timeline in a way I've never heard and in a way I completely believe. If we hadn't been recording the conversation, I would have totally stolen his idea and pretended like it was my own. Stupid technology. But even though I'm obviously biased, I think the whole thing deserves a listen.
As always, there are a few ways to enjoy the podcast. Below the Hulu embed of "Recon" lies an MP3 player that you can use in-browser. Just below that, there's a link to download it directly to your hard drive. Adjacent to that is a link to the podcast's feed. The best way, in my humble opinion? Subscribe to the podcast. It's easy, it's free, it's tastier than squirrel baby. While you're over there, please give us a rating and/or review. We'd love to get as many people listening as possible.
Without further ado, enjoy the podcast!

good times! i enjoyed Noel's analysis at the end also. some tasty food for thought.
Too tired to read over 100 comments to see if anyone has given the theory that Widmore is there for himself, and not part of team Jacob or Smocke. He's totally in it for himself. Just my opinion.
Can't wait for my Miles & Sawyer spin-off series. Watching both characters freeze-framed as they jump away from an exploding building would be the pinnacle of 80's television buddy-cop shows.
The podcast discussion suddenly made me think of a theory. The Widmore who arrived on the island in the sub is from the sideways-verse. That's why he doesn't have a bunch of armed mercenaries with him and instead a bunch of grad students. He's a different person now. He wasn't banished from the island by Ben in that universe, he fled the island after the nuke went off. The sub they are on is the original Dharma sub, the sub that was taken by the others during the purge and blown up by Locke in the original timeline. Except now it wasn't blown up and is still being used. And if the sub originally belonged to the Dharma initiative, maybe Widmore is a member of the Dharma initiative too which would be another reason he has a bunch of grad students with him instead of mercenaries. That's why he says Sawyer has no idea what's going on - because Sawyer is talking about events that did not happen in his timeline and Widmore probably knows that. Widmore is referencing the fact that Sawyer doesn't know the real world timeline has been altered.
You guys completely skipped over the cage scene referencing... Kate and then said that Juliet haunted the episode! It's like you were willfully ignoring the Kate references! Bias much?
