Katherine Heigl finally confirms it: I'm dunzo with 'Grey's Anatomy'
No shocker here, but the long-running "Is she or isn't she?" speculation over Katherine Heigl's rumored "Grey's Anatomy" departure finally has an answer. Heigl has confirmed that she is, in fact, leaving the ABC show that made her a star."I am done," Heigl tells Entertainment Weekly. "We just finalized our agreement. Everyone had been working really hard to find an amicable and gracious way of letting go and moving on. It's sad but it's what I wanted."
Heigl attributes her "Grey's" premature exit (she has 18 months left on her contract) to family issues and not to her blossoming film career -- which just earned her top honors at ShoWest.
"I started a family and it changed everything for me," says Heigl, who adopted daughter, Naleigh, in the fall of '09. The star took a three-month family leave from Grey's this season to bond with her, and Zap2it raised an eyebrow when we learned that Heigl had not returned to set when scheduled on March 1.
Turns out the Jan. 21 episode was her last as Izzie Stevens.
The 31 year-old new mommy dishes on her six-year stint on "Grey's" in this week's "Entertainment Weekly," on newsstands this Friday (March 26).

This is one of the Reasons why Grey's Anatomy's Ratings are going downhill. Fans want Heigl and I'm one of them. The Show won't be the same without her.
Jenny, with a new family, the way to spend more time at home is by doing movies. Most movies have a few weeks to few months long shooting schedule. As a series regular on a TV show, you film all year long and get the summer off. If Katherine Heigl picks movies that film in and around Los Angeles, she can be home every night. I support her decision. She's doing what she has to do to make her family a better life. How can anyone judge her for that? I wish her continued sucess. I enjoy her as an actress.

Well, at least her exit can be drama free. I really liked her on the show and Izzie will be missed, but I get both sides and so I hope she is happy with her decision.
