'Grey's Anatomy': Katherine Heigl out for real?

It's that time of year: "Grey's Anatomy" is nearing the end of its production schedule, which means that it's time for a fresh round of speculation that Katherine Heigl's time on the show is coming to an end.This time, though, there may be more to it than just talk. Zap2it has learned that Heigl, who had been on maternity leave and was due to return to filming on March 1, has not been on set this month. Heigl's character, Izzie Stevens, was last seen on the show on Jan. 21; that was a one-episode shot after Heigl took time off in the fall to work on a film.
Zap2it contacted ABC Studios about Heigl's status; a rep said, "We have no comment."
The January episode could up being the last time we see Izzie. Heigl's film leave was written into the show as Izzie storming off because of a disagreement with her husband Alex (Justin Chambers). The most recent episode hinted at reconciliation, but in the end Izzie ended up leaving after Alex told her he deserved someone who would stay regardless of his faults.
Reports say that Heigl and the studio are now negotiating a way to let her out of her contract, ending a couple years of will-she-stay-or-will-she-go conversation. Heigl does have a burgeoning movie career: The theater-owners group ShoWest recently named her its female star of the year. She has two films, "Killers" and "Life As We Know It," due for release this year, along with several other projects in development.
Heigl won an Emmy for playing Izzie in 2007 and has been nominated for two Golden Globes for the role.
"Grey's Anatomy" is in the midst of shooting its final five episodes of the season.

Big mistake, she should not leave this show. She is a character so easy to root for, I really hope this doesn't happen.
I love her character on the show. It's been so long since the last time she was on the show. I seriously thought she'd come back after a couple of episodes or something. I mean there was a time that I really disliked her like that time she had the whole danny thing. But, she's the heart of the show, at least to me.

i can finally smile again.. i guess its time for me to come back to watching greys again. This show used to be outstanding during season 1 and 2. sigh.
Not sorry to see her go at all. The stories have been flowing nicely without all the Izzy drama.
I don't miss Katherine Heigll on 'Grey's Anatomy' at all. I'm really liking this season, especially Jesse Williams. That's a hot piece of man right there. All of the new characters work well together. Dr. Stevens isn't a necessary character any longer.
i miss her...and have been waiting for her to come back. may stop watching now..as she played my fav character.
I'm dropping this show. No Heigl means no Grey for me. She's was the only reason I watch this show in the first place.
I know there are a lot of haters of Izzy out there, however, comparing her to Jesse Williams is crazy. Is his "Avery" centered episode we saw that he has no where near the range that Heigl or even the rest of the cast has. Yes there have been some fantastic episodes this season but the show is clearly missing her. Ratings have been way down.
I always liked her; started watching because of her. But it's easy to see that she doesn't consider herself a part of it so why should WE care?
Kim Raver is more than making up for the lack of Izzie being there - it's fine with me if she goes. If she were there we'd know she's just going through the motions and who wants to see somebody who is NOT invested in here character?
