Conan O'Brien's FOX deal 'not even close'
Rumor has it that Conan O'Brien is on the verge of making a pact with FOX. But rumor, as it so often is, is wrong. The former "Tonight Show" host's manager Gavin Polone set the record straight with FOX News' Pop Tarts.
"He is not even close (to signing a new contract)," said Polone Thursday (March 25). "I don't know where that's all coming from. We've met with a few places and been in talks but nothing is even near being finalized."
In the meantime, O'Brien has been prepping for his comedy tour, which starts April 12, learning to abuse Twitter and turning down jobs like the "Idol Gives Back" offer since NBC has blocked him from making TV appearances for now.
"We've had so many different offers for different things, Conan has been offered all sorts of movie roles but we've had to say no because with the tour there just isn't time for it," adds the manager.
O'Brien won't be free to start a new TV show until September.

Why do they even want to give a show to someone that failed to produce ratings on another network?
because he's talented. deeerrrrrr
He had to have been forced out by NBC, I just don't get why someone who worked as hard as he did would just leave The Tonight Show because they wanted to put it on at 12:05am. Sure it breaks tradition, but it was his show now and he just gave it back to Leno. Classy, in a way, but he looks like a completely silly to just give it away to Leno. He should have accepted the time change and just kept doing the same show, Leno would have eventually decided to retire.
You would be watching Conan tonigh if he hadn't QUIT. Now the history of the whole thing is being changed like a Texas High School History book. He wasn't forced to do ANYTHING...he made a choice! Jay didn't take anything from him and QUIT and to that end once he WALKED away, then the job belonged to Jay who was number 1 for over 15 years!
Leno would have took it back over eventually and plus i dont blame him for not moving back. He didnt want to screw up the tradition of the tonight show. Im going to see him in DC WEEEEEEEEE.
Of course, why give a show to a loser and waste millions of dollars... and that is The Truth...
Conan was horrible, childish, fidgity and clownish on the Tonight Show and I'm glad he's gone. Wherever he ends up I won't be watching. Fox must have realized he had nothing to offer but a small group followers who would never give them an audience worth the money he's probably demanding.
FOX had better create a new Late Night show for Conan. And he'd be smart to go with them over any cable network as FOX reaches more people.
Conan is gonna have to reinvent himself on FOX if they sign him. He will have to prove to them that he can beat both Leno and Letterman in the ratings, and all it takes is a really funny cool show. Conan is the best interviewer out there since Johnny Carson, better than Dave and Leno, but when it comes to comedy it's way to childish for some peoples tastes. Now that he is out of the NBC lineup, it's his chance to spin the wheel once more if FOX signs him on for a late night talk show. I love his monologue, but he has to come back with an even better show than before or it could spell trouble at FOX.
Whay would anybody want to sign up a known loser??
