'Bones' David Boreanaz: I'm not saying I don't want to see Booth and Brennan together
How do you best rile up "Bones" fans? Apparently, having one of the series' stars say that he doesn't want the show's main characters to end up together works pretty well.David Boreanaz (Booth) did exactly that in an interview just recently, so Korbi TV decided it might be a good idea to ask him for a little clarification.
"I see [Booth and Brennan] and they really pretty much are together," Boreanaz tells us. "And the fans want to see the two together. I have my views on it. I think the two of them kind of work really great off of each other [already] and I'm not saying I don't want to see them together. I think everybody wants to see them together in a different way, whether that's as a couple, in a relationship [or something else] ... It's great to see them solve these crimes, it's also great to see them get into their personal lives. But for right now, I still maintain they should be partners, and we'll see what happens after the season [ends], where they'll go."
In other words, Boreanaz isn't exactly vetoing a Booth and Brennan pairing. He may just prefer that they take their time getting there.
And just because the duo might doddle romantically doesn't mean there won't be many moments to light their hearts -- and ours -- aflutter. Boreanaz says that Booth and Brennan might be sharing a dance in the upcoming high school reunion episode.
Adorable, right?
It does, however, sound like the ride might get a little bit bumpy come May.
"In the season finale, there will be a big shift ... with everybody," Boreanaz reveals. "I think it's a really great season finale. We shot the last scene last week and it was very moving, it was very hard to get through. But I think it's going to elevate these characters even more so [in] the next season."
Wha--?
Wow, what a tease.
Thoughts?

UHm. Uhm...
The dance sounds cute. Looking forward to that.
The season finale. I won't lie. I am worried. But, I also kinda know what they'll be facing. Lets just say that I hope the saying 'Distance/Absence makes the heart grow fonder' is indeed true.
But thanks for this, Marisa. I think this makes us all breath a bit better again. The hiatus from hell, the spoilers left and right about ep 100, the scary blind item articles, the comments where we don't have 20/20 vision on... it all leads to...well, to put it mildly, meltdowns. LOL.
But this helped. As always, we can count on you!
I just want this hiatus to be over and get the 8 eps starting. I've had enough of waiting and now ready to SEE it myself and JUDGE it myself.
He wants to take it slow. Five years seems like a reasonable amount of time for two adults to figure out they want to be together. This dance is getting to the point of being absurd and unrealistic.
I like the teasing, I'm not angry with the thought of them being apart as a couple as long as they're together as partners. I like the angst, and I think we can handle a couple of seasons of them dancing around it after their feelings are revealed to each other. A little jealousy, some fights and some kissing too. They could be like one of those "on again off again" couples.
I trust Hart Hanson, he has not disappointed me yet, and I see why they want to push the romance away as much as they can. GO BONES!! As long as David and Emily and their amazing chemistry are there I'll keep watching!
Dang, that sounds good, David. Thanks for the interview, ladies! :)
I agree with ChoeBe. This "keep them apart for as long as possible" thing is getting old fast. 5 years is enough time for them. It feels right now for them to move to the next step in their relationship. Though the way he's talking, I feel like they know they have a 6th season so they're just going to keep pushing them apart.
I'm sure something will happen and they won't get together at the end of this season finale. Then they will come back at the beginning of season 6 and there will be a new roadblock in their way. I'm tired of it. It's like Mulder and Scully all over again. Been there done that.
Don't get me wrong I love Bones, it's my favorite show. But enough is enough already. It's ridiculous now!
That makes me breathe a little easier but it looks like it is going to be an angsty summer break for the fans if the actors admit to having a hard time filming the ending scenes.
Boring! X files? Anybody here me? Angst is all well and good if it leads somewhere. And even the leading man here wants out, by the sounds of it. Oh dear FOX/HH.
This is never getting there, so I'm gone. What a waste of five years. I'm off to fanfiction land where people are brave, insightful enough to realise people in the REAL world can have relationships and work together.
Such a load of old hoowee...
I'm one of the few actually jonesing for Bones angst. I'm so excited for B&B to get more emotional with each other because it's only going to eventually deepen their connection further and solidify them for life. Compared to other shows that I've been involved in, HH & Co have given ALOT to the fans and I appreciate all of it. They're also very respectful to the fanbase and that is VERY rare in TV these days. I'm happy with the ride thus far, and I have faith that HH knows what he's doing. Bring on the angst!
well bex and some others on here... don't let the door hit you on the way out. i just feel bad that you wont see ow amazing it is when they actually do get together. and yeah, it is a waste of five years for you since you know they WILL get together at some point yet youre reluctant to stay around to see that. yeah, you wated five years. but its your life. do as you wish.
This is only part of an interview from screen rant. I hate to break any hearts, (mine has already been), but these two are staying friends forever, or at least until the last 5 minutes of the last episode of the entire series. It is too bad because DB and ED could carry off a relationship. Instead we get a cliche, which I am not interested in watching. There have been too many TV shows already with that cliche. I don't see where the suspense is when you know what is going to happen. I watch TV to escape, not be broken hearted repeatedly.
