didn't NBC already try something like this? Really, time for Jeff Zucker to be shown the door already.
why yes, NBC did try this March last year. It was called The Chopping Block and stared superstar Europe based chef Marco Pierre White. 2/3 thru the season, NBC cancelled it and aired the remaining new episodes on their website only.
Chopping Block was horrible. It failed due to the show format itself. This show with Flay is completely different. So no, this is NOTHING like the Chopping Block. Don't relate the two just because the winner gets a restaurant.
another dumb show that'll get cancelled.
A monkey could see where this is going.. NBC would be better off with a chimp running the show, throwing its own poop. Seems like it would be a step up at this point.
I should be the first to slam this show, as I detest all reality television and hardly ever watch anything on NBC, but Bobby Flay is extremely likable and dynamic, so there is the possibility that this could work.
Wondering how much nepotism was involved with this, though, since his wife (the FABULOUS Stephanie March) is back on Law & Order SVU..
kind of reminds me of a show I saw in Australia a few years ago called My Restaurant rules. I will probably watch this show because I like Bobby Flay for his work on Iron Chef, but the format is nothing new
This is just a rip off of Last Restaurant Standing which is a British show that has been broadcast on BBC America. The only change I see is that in the British format, it is teams of 2 competing to open a restaurant with the backing of Raymond Blanc and his investors.
I'm always happy to see more Bobby Flay.
@Debbie, say it isn't so, American TV ripping off a British TV show? I can't believe that... Anyway how do you know it is a ripoff and not a bought concept? This doesn't do much for me though I am a Flay fan. My guess is he won't be the key guy like Trump. I'm only watching if it doesn't upset my DVR
