Ashley Tisdale is a 'Hellcat,' Skeet Ulrich back at CBS

ashley-tisdale-skeet-ulrich.jpg"High School Musical" star Ashley Tisdale will join fellow Disney Channel alum Aly Michalka in The CW's pilot "Hellcats."

Elsewhere in the pilot world, Skeet Ulrich will star in a medical drama at CBS, "Brotherhood's" Jason Clarke is going on a "Ridealong" at FOX and Josh Cooke has landed a lead role in an ABC comedy.

"Hellcats" stars Michalka as a college student who loses her academic scholarship and tries out for the school's cheerleading squad to help pay her tuition. Tisdale will play the captain of the cheerleading team who becomes Michalka's roommate, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Kevin Murphy ("Reaper," "Desperate Housewives") is writing the pilot, and "Smallville" star Tom Welling is among its executive producers.

At CBS, Ulrich will star in a drama from exec producer John Wells and writer Hannah Shakespeare about a medical team that travels to disaster sites. The "Jericho" star will play a cardiologist who likes the itinerant lifestyle being a member of the team affords him, the HR says. In addition to "Jericho," Ulrich starred in a CBS pilot called "Back" last year.

FOX's "Ridealong" will star Clarke, whose credits also include "Public Enemies" and the upcoming "Wall Street" sequel, as a tough Chicago police office, according to the Reporter. The show, from "The Shield" creator Shawn Ryan, will take place mostly in Chicago's streets and also follow detectives and the new chief of police.

Cooke will reunite with his "Committed" co-star, Jennifer Finnigan, in an untitled comedy pilot (formerly called "Leapfrog") from "Friends" veteran Shana Goldberg-Meehan. Cooke and Finnigan will play a long-lasting but unmarried couple whose worldview is upset when her younger sister (Joanna Garcia) gets pregnant and prepares to be married.

In other casting news, "Law & Order: SVU" and "One Tree Hill" alum Michaela McManus has joined The CW's drama "Nomads," and former "ER" star Goran Visnjic will star opposite Katee Sackhoff in the ABC drama "Boston's Finest."

Yay for Skeet, Can't wait for his new show!

None of these shows sound interesting (but I'm also not CW's intended audience for the first show listed). Kudos to Tom Welling for furthering his off-camera career.

looking forward to seeing Skeet on tv again. I hope CBS picks this one up. I still want to see 'BACK' though.

CW will strike out yet again.

Skeet Ulrich is such an amazing talent that I only hope that the writers involved in this project do him justice.
