'American Idol's' Tim Urban on Top 12: 'It's such a blur, it's such a rush'

tim-urban-top-12.jpg"American Idol" finalist Tim Urban is excited to be part of the Top 12. Probably because at first it looked like judge Simon Cowell thought asking Tim back might have been a mistake.

Tim is just happy to be here, though. He tells Zap2it that making the Top 12 is "very overwhelming, but such a good feeling."

The final four eliminations came as a bit of a surprise to fans of the show, but did they surprise Tim? "The Top 24 that came here was so talented. Everybody was so good. Every week you really have no idea who's going home and who's going to stay," says Tim. "So yes, it was shocking because I've seen these people, I know they're so good. It's hard every week to see people go."

We asked Tim what his "dream theme" would be now that the Top 12 is starting the theme weeks. Tim surprised us when he said, "Big band, swing. I love that style of music ... It would be upbeat, I'd have a lot of fun with it."

He's also excited about the Rolling Stones for next week because they're "an epic band."

Look for more interviews with the "American Idol" Top 12 over the next week while we gear up for the "Idol" finals to start! Siobhan Magnus is next.

Every year, someone with barely any talent gets into the top 12 somehow and someone far more deserving is cut. Tim got by on his overrated looks, certainly not his completely mediocre rendition of Hallelujah.

hey andrew - jealous much? - he's so dang hot - i'd do him in a hearbeat

Andrew is 100% right... it's people like you jjfromnyc who vote these no-talent people through, based on criteria like 'he's so dang hot'. (Really? you like dudes that look like Bobby Brady from the 70's?) Nobody cares who you'd 'do in a heartbeat.'

Well, I'm sure Tim's a nice guy but more talented people than he were sent home. I guess the American people value looks over talent. Sad. If you're pretty you can have anything apparently...whether you're talented or not. Whatever.

hey! give the kid a chance. he wouldn't have made it to the top 24 if he doesn't have the talent. Justin Beiber doesn't have a great voice but sells record. He has the total package. Just like Tim. Whether we like it or not, looks matters when it comes to becoming a popular singer. Tim can sing. Tim rocks! Go Tim!

ok M4Kelly - guess you are jealous, too - by the way, i don't vote - i just drool

maybe all y'all should try to take over for mr. simon

haven't any of you naysayers seen the pics of him and his abs? those abs could sing to me anyday over that fat garcia or that ugly platinum blond thing that got voted off

I am through with this show. People who have voices that are different and new like Lilly and Alex are cut and average middle of the road voices like Tim, Katie and that sixteen year old make it through. Nothing against them personally but I their singing is boring. Kara was correct when she told Alex that she can close her eyes and she knows that it is him singing because his voice is so pure and distinct. I don't get that from Tim or Katie.

and, yes, the 70s mike lookinland look is definitely UNDERRATED
