'American Idol': Usher to mentor in week three?
"American Idol" may be welcoming its first guest mentor in the form of R&B star Usher for the Top 10 contestants.According to Usher's website, he is appearing on "American Idol" both Tuesday, March 30 and Wednesday, March 31, which would imply that he is both the guest mentor and the performer during the results show.
This appearance on "Idol" would coincide with the release of Usher's new album "Raymond v Raymond," which hits stores and iTunes on March 30. You'd have to think he'd performing a single off the album for the live results show on March 31.
Does this mean the theme for that week is R&B? "American Idol" generally tries to match mentors with an appropriate theme but has "Idol" ever done an R&B week?
It would be great if the theme was like "Broadway." Usher was on the Great White Way in 2006 as Billy Flynn in the revival of "Chicago," so it's not much of a stretch. We'd love to see the theme for Usher play against type.
FOX was unavailable for comment.

This is GREAT news if you want the winner to become an arrogant, narcissistic jackass who hasn't had a decent hit in almost a decade.
Check your facts, Usher has had several hits in the last decade, especially from his Confessions CD. It was released in 2004, had singles that topped the charts over the next year, and for which he won several awards, including Grammys.
Can't argue about the rest of your description though. LOL!
2004 was almost a decade ago......kinda. 6 years. For some reason I really thought 'Yeah!' was from before 2004. I thought it was circa 2002. His last album, though it debuted at #1, kinda tanked. Especially when you compare it to 'Confessions.'
I LOVE USHER !!! THATS THE ONLY REASON I WILL WATCH IDOL THAT WEEK
