'American Idol': Simon Cowell slyly slams 'Dancing With the Stars'

"American Idol" judge Simon Cowell got his digs in at "Dancing With the Stars" during the Top 10 performances Tuesday, March 30.In response to Didi Benami's (admittedly rough) "What Becomes of the Broken Hearted," Simon Cowell said, "You have no longer made yourself contemporary, everything is too old-fashioned. If you listen to one of those dancing shows, they always have a singer murdering a song on it."
Fellow judge Randy Jackson tried to get Simon to name-names, asking, "Whoa, what sort of dancing show?" and laughing, but Simon just smiled cheekily.
It isn't hard to guess, though. One of the features of "Dancing With the Stars" is an in-house band with a live singer singing (sometimes not very well) a popular song.
Well, at least Didi knows where she can look for a job once she leaves "American Idol."

Even though I don't like Idol but like DWTS....I completely agree with Simon, the singers are HORRIBLE sometimes on DWTS
Gee, I think every single one of the singers on DWTS is better than the lousy fourth-rate potato-peelers on AI. I sing, and I know the difference. All kind of meatheads think they know what good singing is. Simon is a judge of the singer's physiques--hardly their voices.
DWTS singers try hard, Simon is just mad that he has to sit next tos cary Kara.
Idol is a fixed karaoke contest. DWTS at least has peopled you heard of before.
Both shows suck equally!
AI singers at least get their 15 mins of fame... DWTS are and will always be unknown singers
I probably am the only person in the world who feels like this, but I think the chick from the pussycat dolls needs to go. Her stage act consists of singing and dancing unlike the other people on DWTS. Of course she gets 10's, she is a dancer and she has the BEST professional dancer as her partner, dah !!!!!
I don't think Derek is the best pro. I think he often choreographs poor routines that don't show the "star" in the best light.
Simon's right. The house band singers on DWTS suck, and that's partly why I hate that show. AI singers at least try a little harder and not all of them suck as bad. At least they will have careers. I will take AI over DWTS any day!
The DWTS singers are HORRIBLE!!!!! Who hires them? They probably volunteer. Simon, as usual, is right on the money. Didi was awful.
