'American Idol': Miley Cyrus is the Top 11 guest mentor
"American Idol" is welcoming Miley Cyrus as the guest mentor for the Top 11. Somewhere, Haeley Vaughn is crying. From FOX: Miley Cyrus will appear as a guest mentor on "American Idol" and help the Top 11 finalists prepare for their performances on a Billboard No.1 Hits-themed show airing Tuesday, March 23 on FOX.
The Wednesday, March 24 results show will feature Cyrus performing her new hit "When I Look at You," along with Joe Jonas and Demi Lovato singing their song "Make a Wave."
This comes on the heels of Usher spilling the beans on his website about appearing on "American Idol" March 30 and 31, which implies he is the guest mentor for the Top 10.
Aaron Kelly tweeted Sunday, March 21: "the mentor was incredible :) what an honor to meet someone with so much experience."
We suppose to Aaron Kelly, Miley Cyrus does seem like someone with a lot of experience.
What do you think, gang? Will Miley be a good mentor?

absolutely not. She can barely sing. I guess she fits well with this group of idols.
This is kind of embarassing, no? She really can't sing at all. Her voice is very grating, and she has essentially ZERO range. What can she possibly teach anyone besides how to dance with a pole? Even then, isn't just about everyone left over 18?
She may have had a lot of success, but it's not for her singing. I don't think the Idol contestants are really going to "respect" her...
My guess is that the smarter contestants will be glad to meet her and if in not vocals mentoring - learn a thing or two about how Miley made her incredible connection with an enormous fan base. And about some tips about being a successful performer on screen and stage. And give young Miley full respect.
If they are smart.
My guess is that 3-4 of them will find Miley a huge help, and I bet 2 of those will be in the Final 3.
I imagine AI producers will tell Miley's people that she can not say this or that contestant is "cool" or "awesome singer"...but when AI is over, having Miley as a fan is not a bad thing.
While I don't really think that Miley is the best mentor for the contestants, I am glad to see them moving in the direction of younger mentors with current chart/recording relevance. Not that Barry Manilow and Tony Bennett aren't legends, their path just probably hold much relevance for Idol contestants. I would love to see Kelly Clarkson do it (as she did on Canadian Idol) as well as Madonna, Daughtry and Lady gaga
You have got to be kidding me. They pick a teenager to mentor other teens and 20+ year olds? Nuh uh!
You talk about really dumbing diown this show to its lowest by having this no-talent hack on to mentors these kids? Give me a break! And you wonder why Cowell wants out.
WHYYYYYYY???!!!!!!!!!!
She isn't a well rounded enough of a singer to 'mentor' potential talent. Mentoring to me implies imparting your vocal knowledge and experience. If you want a youth movement for mentorship, successful past idols with extremely talented vocal ranges such as Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood would be great choices. Not a nasally singer such as Miley...IMO
LOL, Crystal must be hating life right about now.
Absolutely. Miss Cyrus DOES have more experience in the music business than any of the contestants and she can really help them to connect with the tv audience (which is where the votes come from.) She is more versatile than people give her credit for. Watch and see.........
