'American Idol': Michael Lynche's 'This Woman's Work'

Michael Lynche moved Kara DioGuardi to tears -- the first time we've ever seen that in her two seasons on "American Idol" -- with his performance of "This Woman's Work." The other judges were as effusive as they've been all season too, and going into Thursday's (March 11) announcement of the top 12, he's put himself ahead of the pack -- at least among the guys. After a night of mostly safe, standing-still-with-guitars performances from the rest of the top eight men, Lynche used the final spot to his huge advantage, moving all over the stage and hitting a couple big notes at the end.

Lynche covered Maxwell's version of the song, but did you know it was originally written and performed by Kate Bush (and for the John Hughes movie "She's Having a Baby," no less)? Just for fun, here's her version.

Why does everyone think that he craps gold bars? His performance PALED in comparison to Maxwell's. The use of falsetto was more of a ploy than anything else. It wasn't organic. He lost his tone and strength of voice in the middle of the song. Just because he might have been a little better than most of the others doesn't mean that he's the second coming(of anything other than a hyper-masculine, posturing, bullshitting anti-christ)

Michael might have been a tad harsh, but I couldn't agree with him more. It was an okay performance but it certainly didn't deserve the judges praise. And Kara crying? That was completely ridiculous.

Clearly Michael is a self proclaimed musical genius who never mad the cut- get a life guy. So sad......
Micheal calls himself a trainer that a big fat joke. He's a rolly polly and can only sing so so. Theres to much hype to this guy he lacks the star quality and I can guarantee he just a player. Okay Micheal stop eating the gravy train and go on a diet or better yet call Jenny?

Kate Bush is one of my favourite artists and 'This Woman's Work' is a lovely haunting song....
My husband and I were cringing while Lynch "sang" this. We were horrified...and utterly stunned by the judges unanimous praising of this performance. Are we on crack? Or did this performance suck as much as we felt it did?

OHH that man Micheal he be my dream date, the man can't sing but he be my dream date. I think he be the next Mr. Olympia, that nutsack Arnold don't know what he talk about. I just hope the brother wins so he can gets some bling and take me out.
