'American Idol' mag: Susan Lucci's fave is Adam Lambert, Miley Cyrus' is Allison Iraheta

american-idol-mag-cover-320.jpgThe "American Idol" magazine is back on newsstands Friday, March 26 and it is chock full o' backstage pictures and dish.

The magazine is returning after a three-season hiatus.

"We decided to take a break after the last magazine because we just didn't have the bandwidth and wanted to concentrate our efforts on other areas of licensing and producing the TV show," Fremantle Media tells Zap2it

"Now we are in a better position internally and also have found a great partner in Soap Opera Digest who can carry out our vision of the magazine so it's perfect timing to bring this product back."

Among the great new features include asking the season 9 Idols who their inspirations are:

Crystal Bowersox
: Melissa Ethridge, Janis Joplin, Ray LaMontagne, Bobby May, Frankie May, Brian Walker and Ray Charles.

Siobhan Magnus
: Hanson, Hole and anything that comes from the heart

Michael Lynche: Maxwell, Al Green, Lauryn Hill

Casey James
: Anything real

Other famous stars were asked who their all-time favorite Idols are.

Miley Cyrus: Allison Iraheta

Susan Lucci: Adam Lambert, he's a born entertainer, comfortable in his own skin at an early age.

Gavin DeGraw
: General Larry Platt

There is also a section that includes classic Simon Cowell quips and insults. The magazine will have four issues this season. Our buddy Shirley Halperin at the LA Times contributed to this first issue, on newsstands March 26.

Who is General Larry Platt? WTF? I haven't watched too much of this season because it's boring. But who is Larry Platt?
Miley always liked Allison as they are both the same age and the same type of voice. I think Allison will have a long career. I like Adam Lambert too for the same reason Susan Lucci does: he is comfortable with himself and he has a killer vocal range. I have always admired people who are strong with who they are and comfortable in their own skin. I've never cared for wallflowers or the meek. So again, who is General Larry Platt? I can't comment on him because I have no idea.

He was a spoof try out for this season of Idol He is 62 yrs old, but tried out, and just slayed everyone with the song he sang, "Pants on the Ground' You can check him out on youtube.

Susan Lucci is a classy lady and smart too. Miley's smart too. Larry Platt is the best thing Idol has going for them this year. LOL.

@Marilyn: I think you summed it up,especially when you stated that Larry Platt is the best thing Idol has going for them this year. Boy what a "FLAIL" season.

This is so stupid! This doesn't talk about Miley one bit!I want Miley!I want Miley!I WANT MILEY!

Miley has a sweet personality. She has been extremely successful. Alison actually sings better than she does. Miley's voice needs a lot of mechanical altering to sound decent. Lambert of course is in a whole different category. Far and above the best singer, especially live singer, of our time.

Ahh... Miss Adam and Allisan. My fave is Adam : ) But I think a lot of season 8 performers would kill in season 9. Some idols have quoted real big names, but sadly I haven't got a feel that they put their influences to test. Still gonna give a little patience, though.

I just gained a huge amount of respect for one Miss Miley Cyrus - Yes Miley - Alison Iraheta is absolutely amazing! I'm a huge Adam Lambert fan, but I gotta say that (as far as the Idol bubble anyway) I wish I could turn on the radio and hear "Scars"!! I hope her label and management etc. keep promoting her! Her freshman album is geared towards a young crowd, and rightfully so, but there are some real gems on Just Like You that have mass appeal. As far as the Idol Machine and being within the Idol Bubble - Season 8 was something special, the top 5 were all interesting and talented, and what Lambert did on that season is stunning - a little mini body of work that will truly stand the test of time even outside the Idol Bubble. Thank goodness for Crystal Bowersox or I would not even be able to tolerate this season at all, which would be a big disppointment to my child - I hang in there for my child.
