'American Idol': David Cook's 'Jumpin' Jack Flash' shows how it's done
Here's the problem with having former contestants, especially winners, come back to perform on "American Idol," especially this early in the game: All it does is magnify how far the current crop has yet to go.
Case in point, David Cook's rendition of "Jumpin' Jack Flash" on Wednesday night's results show.
While the Rolling Stones proved problematic for many of the Top 12 -- especially Lacey Brown's sorry "Ruby Tuesday," which had her saying "good-bye" -- Season 7 winner Cook pulled it off effortlessly ... and got to give a way-early plug for the new album he's been writing. Win. Win.
