'American Idol': David Cook's 'Jumpin' Jack Flash' shows how it's done

GoogleHere's the problem with having former contestants, especially winners, come back to perform on "American Idol," especially this early in the game: All it does is magnify how far the current crop has yet to go.
Case in point, David Cook's rendition of "Jumpin' Jack Flash" on Wednesday night's results show.
While the Rolling Stones proved problematic for many of the Top 12 -- especially Lacey Brown's sorry "Ruby Tuesday," which had her saying "good-bye" -- Season 7 winner Cook pulled it off effortlessly ... and got to give a way-early plug for the new album he's been writing. Win. Win.

What a performer. A natural on stage and such an erudite guy. A real musician.
Yes indeed! Cook showed this group how it is supposed to be done. He was nothing short of spectacular. His voice is just made for a song like this. And his band - OMG. Just brilliant. Neal Tiemann is mind blowing on the guitar. This man and his band were the best thing on Idol tonight. I wish they could be back next week, because then I would watch the show. This group needs to step it up, or people will move onto something else.
I couldn't agree more with the above comments. These top 12 need to really step up their game and quick! Siobhan was the best the other night, but they have a long way to go! David Cook was amazing and such a great guy! Great to see him back on the stage at AI!

David Cook has the most buzz worthy Stones cover this week. Unsurprisingly, two years later he's still got IT. I hope this years crop got to pick his brain a bit because I have a feeling he'd give better advice than the confusing judges.
This season 9 group has no star qualities; lackluster suits all of them. Regarding David Cook; he totally kicked a$$ tonight.I wonder if any of this group has watched Cook's Eleanor Rigby (top 12 season 7)
