'American Idol': Adam Lambert performs, backstage on 'The Tonight Show'
Adam Lambert helped Jay Leno kick off his return to late night on "The Tonight Show" Tuesday, March 2.Lambert debuted a new single on the show, "Sleepwalker," and it is definitely a keeper. Not quite as good as "Whataya Want From Me," but still a strong song. It really shows off the higher register of Adam's voice.
Also check out this backstage footage. It's great to see everybody joking around!
We love that Adam's pre-performance ritual entails "warming up." Yes, that's usually a good thing for someone who is going to be singing.

This Leno performance exemplifies EXACTLY why Lambert is the real deal -because even within the confines and constraints of having to perhaps be a bit concerned w/ political correctness and maybe just a little cautious with a performance - he still blows it out the box, w/ just his vocal alone! This frickin' guy just may be better live than he is recorded. His U.S. So You Think You Can Dance performance was similar - executed w/ some concern for the particular audience and just a tad reserved - but smokin' hot nonetheless! I hope that by way of this Leno appearance, Lambert can reach an audience that is maybe starting to think "yeah, I'm getting it, I see it..." and they'll check him out further - because Lambert has so much to offer us vocally and musically. One doesn't have to love the whole Lambert thing to appreciate his stunning vocals and exciting music. Check out his cd people, I think you'll be entertained (oops, no pun intedend, I really mean it actually lol). Don't shut yourself off from his amazing vocals peeps - he's so damn enjoyable! And this guy is amazing live (nice rock edge in live performances), amazing, he just is.
I really love the song. It is one of my favorites on his album. Great performance!!
Adam does it again- poise, grace, talent! Great vocals and lots of luck in the UK. Can't wait for Adam to tour in the US.
I like the song. It has a rock vibe to it. Plus it's a song that does well live. Seems like Jay and Adam get along pretty well. It's the second time Jay has had him on the show. The first time Jay had him on the couch (get your mind out of the gutter). Plus Jay mentioned him in his monologue almost on a nightly basis prior to the first appearance and it wasn't snarky.
Adam is the smartest. Sarah can't really talk and has that fake smile on all the time and her stupid message at the end of the interview. Adam can talk so well and is so real. Love his performance and I loved his outfit. I also really like Shaun - he is very cool and a real rocker at heart. Amazing Olympian. Go Adam, Go Shaun :)
This guy is the real deal! He has incredible vocals, looks and knows how to perform. He is a definite front man and has endless potential, there aren't any words to describe just how good he is. Awesome to see him on regular T.V. so everyone else can see how good he is! Can't wait to see him on tour!
Shaw Adam's performance and LOVED IT!!!! He's the real deal alright --- so talented and so likeable. Will watch whatever show he comes on because I can't get enough of his wonderful voice and person.
GO ADAM!!
Luv Adam, and so happy to see him on TTS. i specifically tuned in last night to see him (& saw Shaun White too-yay). :)
This song though, i think Adam shoud take the vocals down a notch and sing it in a lower key. I think it would be more powerful that way. That said, i love to watch this guy!! Rock on, Adam!!
Well, really disliked "What do you want from me" -- very safe and boring -- hope his next stuff is better. I expect more from him But then I guess he'd ask whatta ya want from me?
Adam is just amazing. When is he going on tour?? I love the tune, but also waiting for him to perform "Soaked" or "Broken Open" from the album live on one of these talk shows... would love to see him change it up the way he used to do on Idol, and occasionally hit us with "toned down, acoustic Adam" too... and remind us of the man behind the glitter. I like the make-up on the boy, but the boy without the make-up is also so handsome! Either way, he's the most exciting rock star and performer to come along in a very long time. Love that Jay gave him props, and that Shaun White came over afterwards to shake his hand.
