12 John Barrowman must-see gems you may have missed
You probably best know him, though, as Captain Jack Harkness from "Doctor Who" and the "Torchwood" series on BBC America. We haven't checked our stats, but we think he's the most popular American export we have (next to denim). OK, so he's Scottish, but he pretty much grew up in the U.S.!
Of course, there's the rumors that he'll assume the lead in the American version of "Torchwood" Fox is planning. And, he has made it pretty clear he'd like to be on another Fox series, "Glee."
But while we wait for those must-see gems to come to fruition, we decided to put together some others to hold us over. Judging from the dozens of videos we've watched, if Barrowman were Twitter, his trending topics would be musicals, kisses, drama, uniforms and camp! We would totally follow that.
Check out these 12 John Barrowman video gems:
1. "The Producers"
In 2005, a bleached blonde Barrowman appeared in "The Producers" as the lead tenor Stormtrooper. Check him out singing "Springtime for Hitler."
2. Livin' La Vida Loca
This performance is too good to be true. Barrowman shakes what his momma gave him in a performance of Ricky Martin's "Livin' La Vida Loca"
3. "My Family"
Last year, Barrowman guest-starred in the British sitcom, "My Family," as the American doctor who sweeps Susan (played by Zoe Wanamaker) off her feet after coming to her rescue. But, he just might be too good to be true.
4. "Doctor Who"
Fine. This is a scene from "Doctor Who," but we think Barrowman would love the new soundtrack one of his fans provided for it. Plus, he's nakey.
5. Kisses at Comic-Con
This scene comes from 2009's San Diego Comic-Con when Barrowman and "Doctor Who," himself, David Tennant, shared a wee bit more than a handshake. We love a crossover event.
6. "How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria?"
For the ladies out there, here's Barrowman butchin' it up. Check out this scene from BBC's "How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria?" Barrowman was a judge in the search to find a new lead for the West End production of "The Sound of Music." As you'll see, he's not one of those TV judges that just stands on the sideline.
7. "Tonight's the Night"
Barrowman also hosts the BBC show, "Tonight's the Night." Based around making the contestants' wishes come true, Barrowman's opening number is more than we ever could have asked for.
8. "Making of Me: John Barrowman"
We loved the 2008 BBC documentary, "Making of Me: John Barrowman." In it, the actor explores a fascinating array of scientific tests to prove the idea that he was born gay. Check out this emotional scene.
9. "Al Murray's Multiple Personality Disorder"
This clip from the British show, "Al Murray's Multiple Personality Disorder" had us giggling until our bosses got back from lunch. Barrowman plays a colorful American soldier who infiltrates Hitler's base camp in this hilarious skit.
10. Music, Music, Music
We didn't know that John Barrowman had a music album. In fact, he has five. The video clip below is the single from the 2008 pop album, "Music, Music, Music." We think it'll quickly climb your guilty pleasure charts.
Bonus! Let's not forget the two American series we loved John Barrowman in, but didn't quite keep him busy enough to keep him on this side of the pond. Click on the headings to see the videos!
11. "Titans"
Barrowman played the ruthless Peter Williams on Aaron Spelling's short lived Dynasty-esque sudser. His character circumnavigated the rough soapy waters in a bid to take over the family's business. Camp, claws and backstabbing served!
12. "Central Park West"The younger Barrowman portrayed Peter Fairchild, a handsome driven district attorney living in a New York socialite's world. Oh, can you taste the drama?

I'm with Scarlett...SWOON!! I really really really hope he's on Glee--as one of Rachel's gay dads. He would be perfect!!
The thing I like about Barrowman is he seems to be a genuinely cool guy. My favorite gem was him cutting up with Billie Piper, Catherine Tate and David Tennant on a bit of behind-the-scenes video included with the Season 4 Doctor Who. I think he goes a bit OTT at times -- but he's one of the few people who I think can get away with it.
