ABC really needs to stop all the reruns of MODERN FAMILY and THE MIDDLE. Some of these eps have aired 3 and 4 times. They are running their only good comedies in years into the ground.

Well, Michael, when a network cooks up a big turkey (aka, ABC's prime-time schedule), they have no choice but to bring left-overs to the table for weeks on end.

Turkey pancakes, anyone? :P

@Michael: Well observed :)

ABC is selling Modern Family, The Middle and Cougar Town as "great successes" which "vindicated its risky strategy".

There are so many things wrong with that pseudo-story playing in the press.

First, trying a lot of new shows is not a risky strategy. It's the strategy that made the networks powerhouses in the days before the internet.

Only mis-management (ie. managing to get good press out of failing shows) has changed that as the networks don't have enough money for a proper strategy.

Then ABC's new Wednesday was a spectacular failure in the ratings.

ABC has gotten the press to say otherwise, by lowering expectations to the point where show that get nowhere near 10 million viewers are supposed to be "hits". I have no idea why journalists go along, but none of ABC's new shows are "hits" by any meaningful meaning.

So, sadly, ABC strategy wasn't vindicated in real life, even though I do give them a lot of credit for trying the right strategy. Their show picking was just terrible (as was the decision to shoot on video to spite SAG and shake the camera on Modern Family, the most promising of their shows that still could develop into an actual hit if they bought a tripod).

The press is doing favors to executives by going along and pretending everything's rosy, but the industry (and the viewers) will be the ultimate fall guys as low-rated shows will now fail to deliver next year (unless ABC actually retools Modern Family and I'm not holding my breath!)

Not much to add between NBC and Fox that I didn't say yesterday. But all those 500K-800K viewership levels for those "Gossip Girl" repeats do not bode well for its syndication prospects. ABC Family on Line 1!

Get LOST Rena!

I think ALL the girls were better than any of the guys!
...and I wasn't blown away by any of the girls...

@Rena

It must be nice to know it all...

wow u people really have no lives, do you?

pathetic

Idol might have beaten the Olympics but the ratings are going in the tank. I give it two or three years at the most.
