CHUCK continues to do very well for NBC, but its no suprise, every knows its one of the best and most entertaining show on TV.
Monday Night (8-11pm): For the 3rd week in a row, ABC increased its overall audience from the year-ago night, gaining 8% year to year (10.4 million vs. 9.6 million on 2/2/09).
The Bachelor: On the Wings of Love (8-10pm): From 8-10pm, ABC’s The Bachelor earned second place in viewers and young adults to CBS’ original comedy block, beating Fox’s original dramas (House/24) in Total Viewers (11.7 million vs. 11.6 million) and Adults 18-49 (4.1/10 vs. 3.9/10). The ABC unscripted series won its 2-hour time period for the 3rd straight week among Adults 18-34, beating runner-up Fox by 11% (4.0/11 vs. 3.6/10). For its 5th straight telecast, The Bachelor towered over its time slot and registered as Monday’s #1 TV show with Women 18-34 (6.3/16).
The Bachelor built to another season-high, marking its 4th consecutive week of growth in both Total Viewers and Adults 18-49.
Bucking the general trend for many unscripted shows, The Bachelor attracts a highly desirable upscale audience. Season to date, The Bachelor places among the Top 10 highest-rated television series in Nielsen’s top income break: Adults 18-49 in homes with $100K+ annual income (#9). In fact ranked among the all unscripted TV series this season, The Bachelor (5.9 rating) paces behind only Fox’s American Idols, outperforming CBS’ Amazing Race (5.3) and Survivor (5.3) and NBC’s Biggest Loser 8 (5.0) and Biggest Loser 9 (4.9). Based on its Index (158), or concentration of high-income viewers in its audience, The Bachelor stands as the #1 unscripted series on the major broadcasts networks this season. For perspective, American Idol-Tuesday reports an index of 115 and American Idol-Wednesday is also at 115.
Castle (10-11pm): ABC’s repeat Castle took second place in the 10 o’clock hour to CBS’ original CSI: Miami, beating out NBC’s original Jay Leno by 4.1 million viewers (8.0 million vs. 3.9 million) and by 100% in Adults 18-49 (2.2/6 vs. 1.1/3).
The replay Castle improved ABC’s performance in the hour over the same night a last year with original programming by 1.2 viewers (8.0 million vs. 6.8 million).
In Total Viewers and Adults 18-49, Castle achieved the series’ highest-ever repeat numbers.
wow, Castle did really well for a repeat airing! I'm so happy for that show.
One Tree Hill continues to be the highest rated CW show on Monday, happily. All signs point to an 8th season, I hope :)
Glad to see Heroes going up a bit. This season has been really good.
Also, happy Life inexpected is keeping the ratings. GREAT show.
I will never understand the attraction to Big Bang. I just do not find it funny, and I have given many chances. I find it the weakest of the CBS comedies.
Misleading headline!!! At 8... House whopped the CBS comedies... so did the Bachelor!!! At 9... CBS comedies did great, they they picked up the millions of viewers that '24' and 'Heros' obviously lost from their more successful lead- ins.
So ditch the Fake Headline... and come up with something more appropriate like News at 9... 'Two and a Half Men Bang the Bachelor and Jack'!
Two and a Half Men is slowly climbing back towards its highs, while 24 dropped below 10 million viewers (perhaps it's Katee Sakhoof "great" acting that did it ;) )
CBS still wins but a lot less handily than in years past even as House is still performing at lower levels than before.
CSI Miami seems to have stabilized at a lower level too (could it be the ridiculous shot-on-video soap opera look?) while Chuck once again failed to have an impact.
At ABC Castle re-ran very handsomely, albeit still shatered by a relatively strong lead-in which practically guarantees its return next year (after all, it did better than most of ABC's new shows do in originals).
CW was its usual non-entity.
@Johanah: CW should cancel its entire line-up and start afresh, but that's not going to happen as Dawn Ostroff and her team are busy trying to make it look like they're doing adequate business.
@ERICinHB: Not sure what you mean by Chuck doing great. It came in fourth by a long shot, and only looks good compared to the ratings disaster that Heroes has become.
@Jim from NJ: I agree. Your headline would be a lot more descriptive of the night as House did win its hour with decent ratings (and a decent episode :) ).
@Rena: SHUT UP! CHUCK RULES.
Chuck's ratings on NBC=great.
Chuck's ratings on the more successful networks=imminent cancellation.
In NBC's case, they'll take good news anywhere they can find it, even if it is so much smoke and mirrors (and well-written media prevarications). I like Chuck, but the show's creators should be grateful they are on NBC, where they'll be coddled, rather than on CBS, where they would have been shown the door two seasons ago.
And while I personally don't care for House, I'm glad to see those that do like it are still watching it in high numbers. Fan loyalty is as much a sign of a show's success as the ratings, even if not everybody sees it that way. True, television is a business, first and foremost, but there has to be some love for the product there as well. I may not like House, but a lot of people do, so more power to it, and y'all enjoy it.
how sad is it that someone post a big long look at the rating under my name ??? are they really that afraid of posting under their own name ???? i did not know someone thinks that highly of me. My only post was stating how well CHUCK did and does.
