The CW renews 'Top Model,' 'Vampire Diaries,' 'Supernatural,' 'Gossip Girl,' '90210'
The CW announced early renewals Tuesday (Feb. 16) for five of its most popular shows."America's Next Top Model", "Gossip Girl", "Supernatural", "The Vampire Diaries" and "90210" will all return to the network's schedule in fall 2010.
"The Vampire Diaries" is the only freshman series on the list. No surprise as it is The CW's most watched show, averaging 4.6 million viewers each week, while "Melrose Place" premiered to anemic numbers and was never able to pick up speed. The jury, however, is still out on whether or not "MP" will get a second chance. The fate of midseason series "Life Unexpected," which has been critically praised but pulled just 1.8 million viewers Monday night, is still up in the air as well.
Also missing from this early renewal list are a couple veteran series -- "One Tree Hill" and "Smallville," which have been on the air for seven and nine seasons respectively. Creatively, they could be about ready to call it quits.
What do you think? Is it time for The CW to put "Smallville" and "One Tree Hill" out to pasture? Will you miss "Melrose" if it is indeed canceled?

still liking One Tree Hill I've given up on Melrose Place Gossip Girl and 90210 they haven't been new since before Christmas!!!!! good grief whose brilliant plan was that airing repeats for 3 months. no wonder the CW sucks in the weekly/daily ratings!!
smallville needs to say on air!!! best show on the cw!!
I like smallville but I think
it is time to say good-bye and
give them enough time to end
it right or at least get a
2 hour tv movie out of it.
I think it's time Smallville heads out...
One Tree Hill seems to be on a buzz from time to time despite it's apparent creative slump...
I've enjoyed Melrose Place this season and would personally LOVE to see it back for Season 2.
Also, Life Unexpected...PLEASE CW...RENEW THIS....RENEW THIS PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE. That's all....
Really would like to see a 2nd season of LIFE UNEXPECTED. Am glad to se that VAMPIRE DIARIES is gonna be back this Fall. As for the rest - don't care one way or the other.
Smallville lost my attention about a year and a half ago. Just too much teen soap opera nonsense and no sense of character development.
Really Lisa? Really.? Let's not overreact. Smallville was never very good, and it's still not. The Vampire Diaries and Life Unexpected are the two strongest shows on the network, in terms of both writing and acting. The Vampire Diaries is a total guilty pleasure that just keeps getting better and better... I thought I was done with love triangles after Lost, but I must say Jack and Damon FTW!
Smallville - its either time for Clark to start flying, or give one good story to end on. they have already pushed the no fly way beyond when the character ever did in the comics.
Melrose, never watched it.
Life Unexpected - I like this show. Keep it going. It's something different so far (until the clones start coming out, as they usually do)
One Tree Hill - seems to be running out of steam. Since the show was primarily about Lucas when it started and he's gone (with Payton, but they never said where, at least I didn't notice them saying where to). this one is on the bubble with me. Watched it since the beginning, but not sure.
most of my fave shows are from cw! i've been a "smallville" fan from the beginning--the first few seasons were a bit slow due to character development and the main love triangle but season 4 was amazing and the writing and cinematography has been great since!! the only thing i've disappoved of was the season 8 finale--very disappointing! regardless, new characters and comic history have been emphasized this season and it's been awesome!
"vampire diaries" has been a fabulous series...at the end of each episode i always say i hate it because i can't wait until the next one. i love the vampire love story.
i still enjoy "90210", and "melrose place" is a new guilty pleasure, but it's been frustrating because of the long hiatus between new episodes--when do the new ones start up again?
"antm" is a classic that never gets old to me--i love photography and love seeing the creative process of makeup/hair and the final photos. tyra is such a beautiful woman in all aspects!!
I´ve been a One Tree Hill fan since season 1 and I think it´s time to say goodbye, actually I am not interested since last season.
I think it´s time to the CW to start new shows and new schedules and make it a name on his own.
