'Spider-Man' reboot: Logan Lerman may be next Peter Parker

logan-lerman-getty-320.jpgLogan Lerman, star of the upcoming "Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief," may be up for the role of our favorite webslinger.

The 18-year-old actor has been in talks with Sony to play Peter Parker in the "Spider-Man" reboot, reports "Access Hollywood."

"There have been a few discussions, it's definitely something I'm looking into," Lerman told Billy Bush on Thursday, Feb. 4.

"It's one of my favorite characters ever and I'm a huge fan of the series," he added. "I'd love to have more conversations about it. I'm definitely very interested in it."

For those who wanted a relative unknown in the lead, Lerman might fit the bill, but perhaps not for long. He stars as the titular "Percy Jackson" (in theaters Friday, Feb. 12), a modern-day teenager who discovers he's the demigod son of Poseidon (Kevin McKidd), Greek god of the sea and earthquakes. In typical Greek fashion, he goes on a journey and comes across a number of fantastical creatures and events.

Lerman played Bobby McAllister on the short-lived TV series "Jack & Bobby," winning a Young Artist Award for it. His earlier big-screen roles include "The Patriot," "What Women Want," "Riding in Cars With Boys," "Hoot" and "The Butterfly Effect" as the younger version of Ashton Kutcher's character.

It was his role in "3:10 to Yuma," playing the son of Christian Bale's character and opposite Russell Crowe, earned Lerman some well-deserved attention.

Sony scrapped its original "Spider-Man" series of films, dropping director Sam Raimi and star Tobey Maguire in order to revamp the franchise. The reboot centers on Peter Parker during his teen years. "(500) Days of Summer" director Marc Webb has signed on to direct the first film, which is due in theaters in Summer 2012.

Do you think Logan would make a good Peter Parker?

get gary coleman to do it

This kid is uber-talented. Just check out Jack & Bobby. The WB/CW really blew it by not cultivating that show and exploiting the absolute hotness of Logan and Matt Long.

Get it right, Sony did not drop them, after many disagreements, they both QUIT! Something they were gonna both do before Spiderman 3. Because Sony didnt listen to them.

No way, they son't need to REBOOT everything. This is going to be overkill.

Sure I think he'd do great. I'm looking forward to watching Percy.

HOWEVER

I'm super ticked Tobey is getting the boot. Does this mean there won't be a spiderman 4? Ugh

In typical Greek fashion?

Say what? What's typical for the ancient Greeks has nothing to do with Percy Jackson. Try not to rewrite history with your little rumor mill, bub.

I think I'd prefer Tobey Maquire...

looks good....

c'on everybody knows spider-man serie's is because of tobey and sam raimi!!!

I like him a lot. If they're doing the high school thing they need someone young but still talented. I think he could pull it off.

I'm more worried about the script. I heard a rumor that the Spider-man 4 script was really bad and the reason why Maguire and Raimi quit, and that they're using elements of that script for the reboot to make up for the otherwise wasted effort.
