Oprah Winfrey lands Nate Berkus his own show

nate-berkus-320.jpgOprah Winfrey has done it again.

The media queen has ushered in new talent Nate Berkus into the weekday syndication game.

Harpo Productions is behind "The Nate Berkus Show," which will hit TV this fall thanks to all-night negotiations between NBC Universal and Sony Television, reports the New York Times' Mediacoder blog.

Berkus is an interior designer who has been featured on the "Oprah" show for room makeovers. He's designed for Wolfgang Puck's Spago, Barneys New York, the W Hotels and Billy Joel.

Besides appearances on Winfrey's show, he also hosted "Oprah's Big Give" on ABC in 2008.

The designer is the latest talent that Oprah has met, featured and then launched into another level of their careers including Dr. Phil McGraw, Rachael Ray and Dr. Oz (Mehmet Cengiz Oz). Just call Oprah the Mickey Mouse club of syndicated lifestyle talent.

"The Nate Berkus Show" is slated to debut in the fall on at least NBC's 10 owned stations.

Dr Oz yes! I'm just not sure Nate can do a whole hour show 5 days a week. At least not a talk show.

I would've rather Dr. Phil (who watches this dreck?) and Rachael Ray never gotten their shows. Nate Berkus seems like a sweet guy, but another cry-y design show? enough boo-hoo-hoo home makeover shows! ugh!!

(i give a pass for the dr. oz show.)

God, the last thing we need is another ****** on television!!!

Isn't it enough that we have to have the whole gay lifestyle crammed down out throats at night????

When will this abomination end???

nomo let's meet face to face and I can show you how much of an abomination I am you prick.

Nomo, seriously- abomination??? I hope that you have a child that turns out to be GAY so that you can preach up and down what an abomination they are.

oprah's next amazing" pay it forward"the story of contessa maelene, that ends up saving her own life and helping thousands..the greatest most sincere advertising moments ever...

I'm excited. I've been waiting for this to happen. I like Nate. He's cool.

So they're replacing Bonnie Hunt with this guy?

Nomo - that was an awful comment - really!

I was looking forward to Nate's show, but have been sorry to see it is heading downhill. I, personally, really wanted design advice. I turn the channel when he turns to style shows, buying a dress for a female guest, etc. Show me design. He commented that he loved the magazine Elle Decor. I do as well. Can't he go that direction? Leave the food shows to others too. I would love to see some of his past projects. The crazy secret night design shows drive me crazy too. Don't be cute. Show what you can do and have done in the past and I, for one, will be happy. I truly want Nate to succeed.
