New 'Doctor Who' arrives in April
The 11th Doctor will be arriving on these shores in less than two months.BBC America says that the new season of "Doctor Who" will premiere in the United States on Saturday, April 17, just a few weeks after its debut in the U.K. Matt Smith is taking over from David Tennant as the 11th incarnation of the iconic character, and he'll have a new companion in a character named Amy Pond (Karen Gillan).
The show has undergone a change behind the scenes as well, with Steven Moffat ("Coupling," "Jekyll") taking over as head writer from Russell T. Davies. Richard Curtis ("Love Actually") and Mark Gatiss ("The League of Gentlemen") are among the writers on the new show.
"In introducing the Eleventh Doctor, Steven Moffat is opening the show to a whole new audience, while serving fans with an exciting mix of intergalactic, time travelling adventures. We can't wait to meet his new Doctor," says BBC America's head of programming, Richard De Croce.
Alex Kingston ("ER," "FlashForward") and Sophie Okenedo are among the guest stars for the new season.

yes!!!! finally!
Can't. Freaking. Wait.
Can't. Freaking. Wait.
Love that I can see it here after watching it on youtube.
Alex, what's with you and others who can't wait 1 or 2 weeks (the delay time between its airing in England and here)? I prefer to wait for it to air on BBC America so I can watch it with everyone else... sort of like a shared experience.
Watching it on YouTube before it airs here is sort of like downloading music for free... almost like stealing in a way. At least that's how I look at it.
To the writer of the article, it isn't a few weeks, it's TWO (14 days)... Season 31 starts Easter weekend in England if I'm not mistaken.
I'm glad that RTD is gone & Moffat is in charge. And I can't wait to see how Matt Smith does as the Doctor!
Me too, RTD is starting to get into my nerves already, now I am really excited reading this news...finally!
If you watch it on Youtube you get to see the bits that BBC America cuts out.
Laura, Sci-Fi used to cut out bits of Doctor Who for time. BBC America does not and will not cut any content, which is why the hour-long specials all ran 1:15 on BBC America, to allow time for content and commercials.
So what happens after number twelve? Remember Time Lords can only regenerate 12 times. What then???
David Tennant will be hard to top. I think he will go down as the most popular DR WHO. Oh, for whocares, they will obviously discover that because he is the last timelord & is required for continuity in the universe, will regenerate forever.... TA-DA!
