Neil Patrick Harris' 'Glee' and 'Rent' rumors

neil-patrick-harris-golden-globes-320.jpg"Glee" and Neil Patrick Harris is a no-brainer combo, so we're a little impatient waiting to hear if the collaboration is a go.

The latest buzz is that Harris has indeed signed on for "Glee," and that the script has set him up to play a mean guy, says E!

This sounds fantastic of course. Harris has awesome comedic chops and having him try to out-vile Jane Lynch's Sue Sylvester would be an epic event.

Zap2it reached out to FOX for confirmation, but so far, crickets. We're hoping the lack of response is a sign that the publicists are busy scrambling around trying to prep for "Glee's" return in April and NPH's guest spot.

Harris will, however, definitely return to his musical "Rent" roots. He'll direct the Los Angeles production of "Rent" that will run at the Hollywood Bowl Aug. 6-8, reports the LA Times.

Harris, who played Mark Cohen in "Rent"in 1997's LA production at the Ahmanson theater, has some experience directing. He's called the shots on a "How I Met Your Mother" episode and several theater productions, including "All My Sons," "The Paris Letter," "Luck, Pluck and Virtue" and "Assassins."

I can just see him breaking into song and dance, nice

I get the feeling some numbers from Rent should be added to the new season of Glee!

My life was just made. I love Glee and I love Neil, he's an amazing singer. I loved him in Dr. Horrible. I agree with the person above me, though, songs from Rent NEED to be in that episode, or somewhere in the season.
