Ian McShane eyes 'Pirates' Blackbeard

ian-mcshane-kings-320.jpgArr! It's a pirate's life for Ian McShane.

McShane, lately of the short-lived but much beloved NBC series "Kings," is in talks to board "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides," according to The Hollywood Reporter.

He's being considered to play Blackbeard. Historically, Blackbeard, born Edward Teach, was a notorious English pirate who captained the Queen Anne's Revenge and was supposed to have a fierce countenance. Image-wise, McShane sounds perfect.

McShane is the latest big name to join the "Pirates" franchise. Penelope Cruz was recently announced to play opposite Johnny Depp's Captain Jack Sparrow.

McShane is also known for starring in the HBO series "Deadwood." He recently lent his distinctive voice to "Kung Fu Panda" and "Coraline."

Sounds good to me! :)

After the third installment, I just can't muster up any excitement for the fourth Pirates, no matter how great the cast is going to be.
