HBO's 'Big Love' renewed for season 5
HBO is throwing more support behind their boy Bill Henrickson. The cable network's fourth year drama "Big Love", which follows the polygamist Henrickson family, has been renewed for a fifth season.
The series, starring Bill Paxton, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Ginnifer Goodwin and Chloe Sevigny -- who won a Golden Globe for her work on the show last month -- pulled 1.7 million viewers for its January season premiere and has continued to attract strong numbers over the last three weeks.
The Henricksons -- who are currently supporting Bill (Paxton) as he runs for state office -- seem to be falling apart at the seams as Bill's ambition has begun to take over.
It's a darker storyline for the series, one we now know that viewers will definitely get to see through.

Good show. Hope it stays on the air for a while. Have been enjoying it in its fourth outing. Wish the fourth season was longer than 9 episodes. Hopefully they will do more than nine episodes for their fifth.
I love this show, so a fifth season is more than welcome. But I would like to see the episode count return to the 12 limit.
Just found out from one of the comments that this season is only 9 episodes. Last season, I believe, was only 10. What the "H", HBO? Give us more "Big Love".
Yeah HBO, water down the stories like they do on network so that you can have ten to twelve episodes with little or no action and squeeze the ever loving life out of the show.
This season has been fantastic. Shortened seasons make for much more compelling episodes. You don't need 22 to tell a story. "Jodeen" was awesome last week.
I have watched this show from the beginning and from that time It has defied logic for me. In order for me to follow a show I need there to be something in the characters that I want to appreciate. Even if they are bad people there has to be something that I at least want to identify with. Big Love is peopled, for the most part, with characters that are petty, vindictive and damaged beyond redemption yet I have remained hooked. With this season however things have gone so far south that I am beginning to actively hate these characters and find myself wondering why I am watching. The writers have made Bill the absolute worst, most loathsome individual. Barb is just a self-involved twit who I would love to see just jump off a cliff. I wish the writers would give me a reason to care for these people but maybe it will be enough to watch them fail miserably.
Was reading the most recent issue of National Geographic with a polygamist and family on the cover.
I appreciate more how for years the writers and TPTB of the series touch on several of the issues raised in the indepth/behind the scenes feature - with a focus on entertainment, of course - with just the right amount of drama to make it 'must see' TV.
Great job and great show.
Great Show gets better and better but why only 9 episodes! :( when does season five start??? hope we don't have to wait too long
Really this season was great? Wow, I can't think they they ruined the show. It's like they hired the fired writers from 24.

I agree, only 9 episodes is not fair. especially if you have cable and have to pay extra each month to watch the shows. They need to give us a little more time for our $$. I hope the 5th season is not that far off! I also agree with BHM1304 I hate bill, and Mar-jean and Nicky are petty useless as well. At least Barb has some dignity. The drama was defiantly to drawn out, i dont care if you have 3 wives, it became unbelievable towards the end.
