'Happy Town' finds a home on ABC
ABC has finally cleared a space on the schedule for its drama "Happy Town."The series, a small-town mystery the network is comparing to "Twin Peaks," will premiere at 10 p.m. ET Wednesday, April 28. It will fill the spot currently held by "Ugly Betty," which will have completed its final season by then.
ABC has ordered eight episodes of "Happy Town," which means it will likely run into the early part of the summer.
"Happy Town" is the last of the six dramas ABC ordered last spring to get a premiere date. It takes place in the small town of Haplin, Minn., where a mysterious kidnapper resurfaces after several years, dredging up a whole bunch of secrets along with it.
The show's cast includes Geoff Stults, Sam Neill, Amy Acker, Lauren German, Steven Weber, Robert Wisdom and Frances Conroy. Josh Appelbaum, Scott Rosenberg and Andre Nemec, the team who piloted "Life on Mars" for ABC last season, are executive producing.
The network has one comedy left on the bench for this season. "Romantically Challenged," which stars Alyssa Milano and Kyle Bornheimer, began production this week.

as soon as Dean Winters was recast i said no to this show
I remember them trying to sell this to us when Harper's Island was playing.
Basically, the protagonist is a girl who gets some inheritance and decides to open up a candle shop in a small town. And apparently has never read any Steven King novels. It seemed moronic but now makes me nostalgic for Harper's Island. Best Acting Ever!
Alyssa Milano and The Guy From Worst Week?!?!? really??? that's one combination i never considered. why is it starting production soo late in the season? the best they can hope for now is that abc likes em enough to give em a tryout in the fall--cause otherwise its summer burn off for them.
Does it have closure or could we have another show with an unresolved cliff hanger?
I liked Harper's Island because it was meant to be a mini-series with closure.
Watching the trailers for this I love the idea that HARPERS ISLAND did, but then you put a cast of 24 on again? But 21 people are over the age of 60 and 3 are 30's??? Now if this honestly only has 8 episode, im not bothering. If they want to live up to Harpers Island, good luck, that show kept you on the edge of your seat till episode 12, then 13 was your bombshell that made you go holy spaceship. lol. goodluck, apparently there was already a previewing of this and people said it was boring so......... ABC vs. CBS, lets see who wins, prolly CBS (HARPERS ISLAND)
I've seen the pilot for Happy Town and the show is going to be great. I didn't see Harper's Island, but I know an interesting show that's fun to watch when I see it, and Happy Town is going to be a hit.
Our site will be live-bloggin the premiere of Happy Town if you want to stop by and chat at Mile High Horrors.
