'Doctor Who' teaser trailer: Matt Smith wrestles with an angel

"Doctor Who" will be reincarnated in the spring, and BBC America wants to remind you of the sci fi mayhem to come.

In the latest trailer, a teaser without much actual series footage, we see Matt Smith, the 11th incarnation of the good doctor, speaking to his companion Amy Pond (played by Karen Gillan).

It seems like the duo is stuck in a time vortex, which is a handy way of sneak previewing disparate elements from the upcoming season. It looks pretty cool, although we're not crazy about the music, which seems a bit on the frivolous side.

"Everywhere and anywhere. Every star that ever was... Where do you want to start?" Fun line.

Here's a peek at some art as well that follows the same theme.

We'll certainly miss David Tennant, but "Doctor Who" lives on and we can't wait to see what the new season will bring.

What do you think of the new teaser? And Matt Smith?

holy hell is this guy sure he isnt Jay Leno son?

just look at the chin...my god

also i was kinda hoping that Hannah Murray from skins was gonna be the new sidekick kinda sucks if she was i would have probly watched

he looks fascinating, i can't wait.

The show's already had a joke about the chin, so it's a non-issue. People seem bound and determined to hate the new guy, forgetting the show has changed lead actors 10 times before. I think Smith is going to be great, but I'm also prepared for today's audiences to reject the concept that made Doctor Who a survivor for so many years.

yeah i don't wanna like this one

The CW in Space! Actor is just plain TOO young, sorry.

Looks more like a sneak peek of next Sarah Jane Adventures. Buy him as a slightly older Luke more than I buy him as the Doctor.

Ugh. I am with Kate on this one.

Doctor Who was always cheesy and campy and fun- but it had something underneath that made it so engaging. Matt Smith is lacking that spark. Hate to be a hater, but this just looks awful.

I will wait to see the actual show, but so far I don't like it based on the previews. First, so far Smith is nowhere near as good of a Doctor as David Tennant was (I really wish he hadn't left). I also don't have confidence after most of the talent people left after the last season (including show runner Russel T. Davies). Hopefully Smith will just be a short term Doctor (like Christopher Eccleston, who only played the role of the Ninth Doctor for 13 episodes before being replaced by Tennant).

I'm thinking the "angel" the new doctor is wrestling with is one of the "statues" from the "Blink" episode.
