'Dancing with the Stars': Brooke Burke confirms she's up for co-host

"Dancing with the Stars" will announce the cast for its spring season on March 1, and it's looking like the announcement of a new co-host will come right around then as well.Former contestants Brooke Burke and Melissa Rycroft are finalists for the job formerly held by Samantha Harris, as is ex-MTV VJ and "Entertainment Tonight" correspondent Vanessa Minnillo. Burke confirmed reports that she's in the running on her Twitter feed: "Btw, the news about me hosting DWTS is true. I am screen testing next week for the job, fingers crossed! It would be amazing 2 be back!"
An ABC rep couldn't be reached for comment. (UPDATE: An ABC rep says a new co-host will be announced in the weeks leading up to the March 22 premiere.)
Harris said in late January that she was leaving the show, which she's co-hosted since its second season, to concentrate on her other jobs at "The Insider" and "Entertainment Tonight Weekend." The 10th cycle of the show debuts March 22.
Burke won the seventh season of "DWTS" with partner Derek Hough. Former "Bachelor" contestant Rycroft also did well on the show, finishing third in the eighth cycle. Minnillo has only a tangential connection to the show -- boyfriend Nick Lachey's brother Drew won season 2 -- but has pretty extensive hosting experience, including ABC's "True Beauty" last year.

Brooke would be ok. Melissa needs to beat it. I didn't even like the concept of her being a "celebrity" contestant. I would like to hear the ramblings of Paula, but my first 2 picks would be Lisa Rinna or Kelly Ripa.
Kelly Ripa would be great but maybe she's already too busy. NO NO NO on Brooke or Melissa!

Dear ABC, Newsflash. Straight men are not watching Dancing With the Stars. Even if they are, there are plenty of gorgeous female pros and contestants. The new cohost does not need to be a gorgeous female.

Definitely go Brooke! Melissa has already had more than her 15 minutes and Vanessa might be a train wreck like Samantha. I liked Samantha, but she was as clunky at hosting as was Marissa Jarett-Winokur on Dance your A#$ Off. Two words come to mind: Pain-Full
