Conan O'Brien: Have you seen this host on NBC sites?

conan-obrien-320-2.jpgWhere's Conan O'Brien? Not hanging around NBC and its websites, that's for sure.

Not only has O'Brien vacated "The Tonight Show" premises, but NBC has made sure all traces of his short run have been expunged from the Internet and anywhere else in their sphere of influence.

O'Brien's last night hosting "The Tonight Show" was Friday, Jan. 22, but when Zap2it checked the NBC press site only a few days later for a photo, none could be found. I was so shocked by the sudden disappearance I tweeted my surprise.

It looks like NBC didn't just stop at removing Conan's photos. Media Memo reports that all of O'Brien's "Tonight Show" videos have been removed from NBC.com as well as Hulu.

Creepier still, O'Brien's image on an NBC mural disappeared, only to be replaced by Jay Leno's image, points out Gawker.

Okay, that last action makes sense. The mural is in a public place, and should reflect current programming. Pulling the photos and videos, however, don't make much sense, especially considering news outlets and fans alike often refer to or access past programming.

It's almost as if NBC wants to rewrite history, "Back to the Future" style.

Personally, had I gone looking, I would have been shocked to see any pictures or content referring to their former employee. It shows that the twits at NBC can actually be on top of something. And, though I'm not at all a fan of Jay's, he earned a modicum of respect from me for his appearance in the promo for Dave. Same for the twits at NBC for approving it.

I usually only get mad at networks for cancelling shows I like but these peeps at NBC are on a whole new level. They make mistake after mistake and yet they all get to keep their jobs. I wonder if a bailout is on their way?

NBC Execs screwed this up as much as you could possibly screw something up. In fact, if you were TRYING to screw something up a badly as possible...this is exactly how you would have done it! The execs who made these decisions very clearly should have been fired for extreme incompetence. The fact that they weren't and the whole erasing evidence of Conan's having ever existed on the Tonight Show is bizarre and almost creepy. I can only hope that Leno never regains the audience he had and the Execs at NBC who had any hand in all of this get fired - if nothing else for being idiots of the largest magnitude!

Why is anyone surprised? If they keep his shows on line, they have to continue paying him residuals every time someone watches an episode.

donkey (appropriate name), what is your problem? Leno was not involved in any of this. Conan chose to quit, he was NOT canceled.

NBC is just plain classless.

You know, i would be fine with this if, well... they removed other shows like KINGS, which ended as well from the website--it just shows how much NBC wants us to forget this whole fiasco.

Conan chose to quit because he did not want to push out Jimmy Falon. He also felt that the tonight show should follow tradition by being aired at 11:35 as opposed to after midnight.

You can still buy Conan stuff on the NBC Shop. So there's still that I guess.

TJ, Leno was SO involved in this...when he was on Oprah, he even mentioned CALLING THE AFFILIATES to apologize for failing at 10 PM...those affiliates made the push to oust Conan in favor of Leno...you don't think Leno said more than just "sorry" to them? how about "I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry, please push for me to move back to 11:30...get rid of Conan, my chin is bigger so I'm better for your ratings!"...this whole mess has Leno's stink all over it, no wonder he was so eager to do an ad with Letterman, he NEEDS to look less douchebag-y

not only did they remove the 7 month history of The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien, but they have also erased the entire 17 year history of Conan O'Brien hosting Late Night with Conan O'Brien.
We are talking of the removal of at least 18 years worth of Conan's shows!
