'Better Off Ted's' Andrea Anders joins Matthew Perry pilot

Andrea Anders, who plays Linda on "Ted," has taken the female lead in "Mr. Sunshine," the ABC comedy pilot starring Matthew Perry. She'll play a friend-with-benefits of Perry's character, according to The Hollywood Reporter. (The pilot will be Anders' second with a member of the "Friends" cast; she also starred in "Joey.")

"Mr. Sunshine" is considered in second position to "Better Off Ted," but the show's chances for renewal are pretty slim at this point.

Perry's "Studio 60" co-star Nate Torrence has also joined "Mr. Sunshine." He'll play the son of Perry's boss (Allison Janney).

Elsewhere on the pilot front:

- Metcalfe, who played gardener/Gaby's affair partner John Rowland on "Desperate Housewives," will be one of the stars of "Chase," a Jerry Bruckheimer-produced drama for NBC about a law-enforcement team that tracks fugitives in Texas.

Metcalfe will play a new member of the team who has just arrived from Washington.

- Frank Grillo ("Prison Break," "Pride and Glory") will head the cast of "The Gates," a supernatural-themed drama targeted for summer on ABC.

He'll play the newly hired police chief of a small town where not all is as it seems, the HR says. Chandra West, Luke Mably and Janina Gavankar have also joined the cast.

- Also at ABC, Eamonn Walker ("Kings") has joined "The Whole Truth," a Bruckheimer legal drama that follows a case from the viewpoints of both the prosecution and defense. Walker will play a senior prosecutor.

- Matt Jones will star opposite Gary Cole in TBS' pilot "Ungle Nigel." Jones ("Breaking Bad") will play Cole's bumbling nephew and new partner working homicide cases in Philadelphia.

Gosh - I was still hoping Better Off Ted would be renewed for a third season.

Good thing Matthew Perry is not married- she managed to blitz Matt LeBlanc's marriage in record time! She takes "Friends" to a whole new level.

There was a short lived sitcom in 1986 called "Mr. Sunshine" where Jeffrey Tambor played the title role (AKA Prof. Paul Stark) -- a blind teacher/professor. It probably wouldn't be considered PC today (laughing at the antics of a character with a "disability" though he showed it really wasn't one for him). But it was hilarious.
