Best of Super Bowl 2010 ads: Betty White, Abe Vigoda take the field and more
The Super Bowl XLIV showdown between the New Orleans Saints and Indianapolis Colts is all well and good, but what about the commercials?Super Bowl ad spots cost top dollar so they had better be good.
Check out some of the 2010 Super Bowl's greatest hits, then go take a look at some of the worst ads:
Betty White, Abe Vigoda take the field for Snickers
This gets a big thumbs up from us. Betty White is awesome, particularly on "That's not what your girlfriend said." And what an unexpected cameo by Abe Vigoda at the end. We weren't entirely sure Abe was still alive, so good to know!
Dave, Oprah ... and Jay?
We just developed a bit more respect for Jay Leno. David Letterman and Oprah Winfrey reprised their Super Bowl ad from a couple years ago where they sit on the couch and enjoy the Super Bowl. Except Dave doesn't seem happy.
"This is the worst Super Bowl party ever," he mopes. Pan to ...Leno: "He's just saying that because I'm here."
Here's the thing: It's a promo for "The Late Show" on CBS. You know, the show Jay will soon be competing against? Way to bite the hand that feeds you, Leno. Well played.
Brett Favre, Super Bowl LIV MVP
There's something about a gray(er)-haired 50-year-old Brett Favre accepting a hologram MVP trophy that makes us giggle. The will-he-or-won't-he-retire schtick is a little old, but overall that was a solid outing.
Wait, what was it a commercial for? Hyundai? Huh. We had no idea until we rewatched. That is a tricky part of making the commercials. Don't let the joke overshadow the product.
Even Stevie Wonder can play Slug Bug
The VW punchdub commercial is funny but not super funny -- until the blind Stevie Wonder sluggs Tracy Morgan and Morgan goes, "How do you DO that?" We love Stevie's little giggle at the end.
Google makes us gooey
Who knew an ad for a search engine could make us go "Awwwww"? Google's tale of love through search definitely sticks with us in a better was than Bing's "moms who wear jeans to match their teen's jeans" insidious spots.

my favorite commercial so far.
Love the Clydesdales and the Longhorn for Budweiser.
Also liked Snickers-BettyWhite, fantastic.
I loved the Google commercial. Bing says "It's not a search engine, it's a decision engine" (what the ? is that, by the way?) while Google says, "Search on" = Yeah, it's called a SEARCH engine and you will use it because you know it WORKS. Awesome.
The Letterman, Leno, Oprah commercial was the best.
letterman ad was stupid, the clydesdale ones are always boring, but i loved the google one, the brett favre one, the funny budweiser ones, and some of the dorito ones.
well im eating a snickers right now so i guess that one worked (they shoul have got betty white to tackle someone though)
the google one to me just gets the creepy vibe thoough
its suppose to be something good though
the hyandai one i can tell the future in 10 years it will be out of business well a holographic brett favre wins the suberbowl
finally the slug bug was hillarious thats how you do comedy but still selling the product unlike hyandi did
How can you not point out how awesome the Doritos ads were? "Keep your hands off my mama, and keep your hands off my doritos!"
That Snicker's ad with Betty White is stolen from a german ad with national scoccer team of Germany.
What no love for Dorito's? They had the best commericals! Between the dog collar and the lil kid slapping dude, how can you not recognize them?!
If the measure of a commercial is how much you would want to buy the product after seeing it, I would say the Vizio tv with built in internet was the best. I did like some of the doritos commercials, and I liked the end of the bug commercial.
