'American Idol': Howard Stern replacing Simon Cowell? Please no.

howard-stern.jpgHas "American Idol" found their Simon Cowell replacement in radio shock-jock Howard Stern? Say it ain't so, Seacrest!

The New York Post is reporting that a "source connected with 'Idol'" told them, "It's one of the few shows that could compete with Stern's $100 million-a-year Sirius contract, and 'Idol' bosses think he'd be even nastier than Simon."

We cannot possibly think this is serious. What better way to turn off a huge chunk of the "Idol" viewing audience? Hell, we like "Idol" tremendously and we don't think we would watch Howard Stern as a judge.

The Post also reports that Stern recently said, "I was approached by a major TV network to take over a TV show and leave here and do that next year -- and I did turn it down ... I'm not even sure if I want to be working. I'm waiting to see what happens."

Oh no. No no no. Please no.

What do you think? Is Stern a good replacement for Simon Cowell?

God, I hope so.. anything to kill this show once and for all.. enough crappy talent was produced to last a lifetime

YESSS!!! Stern would be perfect for the show. Those idiot idols need to be put in their place.

I'll take that rumor with a grain of salt! I don't think that Fox would risk alienating and offending 1/2 of their audience. I believe that AI is very popular with "tweens", teenage girls, moms and grandmas, some of who would be turned off by Howard Stern's, um... shock- jock antics. Not to mention that some of the viewers and contestants themselves are conservative Christians or Mormons!

No, please and thank you.

Hey Now!
Howard would be great! He is honest and knows talent. He is the original creator of the concept of bringing someone into the studio and judging them for a music contract.

Stern would probably be a good replacement, but I wouldn't watch the show with that jerk in Simon's chair. No way, no how.

Howard is the most untalented person in the history of radio. He isn't even worth $1 million a year, yet alone $100 million. If he becomes a judge, that would be the end of me watching (at the very least I would mute the TV when it's time for the judges to talk).

Yes! What would be better than the King of all Media! You people have the wrong idea on Howard, have you listened to his show recently? Its one of the most entertaining few hours of radio one can ask for. I think he'd be great and honest and obviously he would know what he is on a television show and he's professional enough to know the boundries of it. Grow up people.

The comments here show what a great addition he'd be to the show. Very polarizing, and people would turn in to hear what he had to say, whether they liked it or not. As a huge fan of the radio show, I hope he doesn't do it, because I think it might spell the end of his time on Sirius due to the time constraints involved. He's already been hinting around about leaving.

That's just dumb. Howard's Show has not changed in 20 yrs. I'm sorry, but lesbian kissing and farting is not entertaining unless you are 16. I don't watch Idol and him entering the ring would make me less interested to start.
