'American Idol' eliminee Shelby Dressel to appear on 'Ellen'
"American Idol" judge Ellen DeGeneres has invited eliminated contestant Shelby Dressel to appear on her show.Shelby Dressel was one of only two contestants cut from the Top 46 on Tuesday night's (Feb. 16) episode of "American Idol" (the other was Jessica Furney, whom we interviewed here).
Shelby's quirky looks and husky voice made her a favorite of ours, so we were sad to see her leave. The competition for the female singers was so stiff this year. Try out for "Idol" again, Shelby!
Meanwhile, new "Idol" judge Ellen DeGeneres announced Wednesday (Feb. 17) that she is inviting Shelby to her talk show next week. We hope Shelby performs a song! Ellen also revealed to us why the judges' deliberations take so long. Watch the clip below for some behind-the-scenes insight.
That still doesn't explain why an episode with about 20 minutes of solid content was stretched over two hours of broadcast time. You cannot blame it all on your pets, Ellen.

There is something oddly charming about this girl. Despite her crookedy smile, she is very attractive: actually quite S-E-X-Y and her wearing her emotions on her sleeve is endearing.
I think she is very good looking and I agree with Simon when I think this was a huge mistake. I could clearly see her winning from skill with help from the votes she would earn from her confidence alone.
Her version of more than a feeling has been stuck in my head for about 24 hours now. I thought she was a sure shot.
Great move by Ellen. There is something very endearing about this girl.
I had Guillain-Barré Syndrome last year and my Nerve 7 was effected and lost my facial tone in my face completely. (I still feel like a (Frankenstein) I can not tell you how brave she is to go on TV and feel like a Frankenstein (INSIDE) I know I do and I have recovered 80% or better. I cried like a baby when she sings and then when she got booted. So sad she could not have made it longer. I just love her and would like to say to her I understand to some degree your emotions. I was proud of you. I am 46 and admire you so much. You are very pretty and hope you can stick with your singing. Your final performance was great. I have only bought one or two CD's in my life but i would love to have more of your singing.
I give this girl a lot of credit. She had a very mature attitude towards not making it to the Top 24. Wish we could see more of that on the show *cough* Jessica Furney *cough*
Want to see more of her, she has a band. Do a search for "Shelby Dressel Band". I felt the same way, something endearing and courageous. It was a shame she didn't make it.
She is such a talented and inspiring young lady. I started a Shelby Dressel fanclub on facebook. Please join and lets send a message to Idol we want her back.
She's our hometown girl and we are so very proud of her. Thanks Ellen for giving her another chance to shine!
I think she is absolutely amazing and she should be America's next American Idol. Shelby come back next year and make them eat their lunch for not picking you this year. You so rock over all the other female contestants like Crystal does. They so made a mistake cutting you out of the show.
American Idol just used this girl for their ratings. They knew the complaints would start to fly when she was let go and now Ellen is pretending to throw her a bone. If American Idol was really about the talent Shelby would not have been thrown off
