'American Idol': Chris Golightly disqualified from Top 24 for old contract?

Was Chris Golightly disqualified from the Top 24 of "American Idol" due to an old contract?According to fellow Hollywood Week contestant Samantha Musa, the answer is yes. Samantha auditioned in Los Angeles and received a Golden Ticket, but we never saw her on the air.
She has been tweeting Wednesday night (Feb. 17):
- Just got off the
phone with Chris GoLightly. He was disqualified yesterday, after already
being told he was in the top 24, over some bogus
- Old contract. The
contract expired, but they disqualified him for not telling them. He is
talking to lawyers, but doubt thet can do anything
- @itsalleternal: You're allowed to have old contracts,
they just need to know about them. I think he put that he had it, but
the guy he was..
- @itsalleternal: ...in it with called idol and said he
still had contractual rights over him. Finally found the contract,
expired in June.
- @Idol360: He is upset cause he says it was a
misunderstanding, yet they let Michael Lynch stay in the top 24 even
though he broke contract..
- @Idol360: ...when his family spilled the news about
idol to the papers. So really, its pretty messed up that they pick and
choose which...
- @Idol360: ..."Breach" to ignore and which to use as grounds for disqualification!
If you were paying close attention to the "Idol" episode Wednesday (Feb. 17) then you may have noticed that Chris Golightly was included in the group shot at the end (though we did not see his segment where the judges told him he made the Top 24). When the show switched to the individual dancing montage, Golightly was not included and instead Tim Urban was shaking his groove thang.
We don't have any information about Chris Golightly's contract and whether or not it is the reason he was not in the Top 24. We don't even know for sure if he was disqualified.
UPDATE: FOX issued a press release that said it has been determined that Chris Golightly is ineligible to continue in the competition. "American Idol" contestant contestant Tim Urban has replaced Golightly as part of the Top 24. FOX confirmed to Zap2it that they have no comment other than what was in the press release.

That's crap. He was my favorite from the city auditions and I was pumped when I heard the leaked report he was in the top 24. I've been waiting for a single segment with Chris in Hollywood and they completely left him out. Lame.

If that story is true it sounds like anyone could call Idol up during Hollywood week, tell the producers you have a current contract with a contestant, and then have them banned. The manager didn't even provide the contract right away. He later found it, and discovered it had expired, after Chris' spot was given away. Way to ruin the guy's biggest opportunity.
I dont think its fair that Chris Golighty got dropped just because he was in another band. Your supposed to keep your options open. When applying for a job do you apply for one vacancy or do you apply for a few and see which one sticks.

It's not fair what they've done to Chris. This is it, I am boycotting this show.
Thank God. If I had to look at his dumb hair for one more minute I would probably have to ban the show.
