'American Idol': Angela Martin recording a song via Ellen DeGeneres, Kara DioGuardi

angela-martin-ellen-320.jpgAngela Martin, one of the last eliminees of Hollywood Week on "American Idol," just got some very good news on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show."

You may remember Martin not only because of her vocal talent but because of her string of personal tragedy.

She's auditioned three times for "Idol" and has never made the Top 24. Her daughter is afflicted with a seizure disorder, her father was killed right before Hollywood Week two years ago and her mother went missing this past Christmas (also not too long before Hollywood Week of season 9). There was also a kind-of funny story about Angela watching herself on "Idol" from jail. Angela's good attitude in the face of such hardships is remarkable.

Angela appeared on judge Ellen DeGeneres' show Friday, Feb. 19 and in addition to getting to perform, Ellen surprised her with the news that fellow "Idol" judge Kara DioGuardi wants to write and produce a song for Angela and they are going to get her in the studio.

What great news. Our hearts just broke when Angela got cut Wednesday night (Feb. 17) on "Idol." We hope this works out well for her.

My heart breaks for anyone that endures such personal tragedy but clearly the help these 2 ladies are giving is out of pity. Angela's voice was nice but not record material at all. It won't sell.....no way no how.
